ESPN: Palmer to Raiders for 2 1st Round Picks

Works out??? A Super Bowl run? not likely. I actually like the Raiders team this year. But they are not a Carson Palmer away from contending with the big boys in the AFC. I think it makes them marginally better - if that.

No, actually it makes them a ton better as they would have been playing Kyle Boller at QB without this move.

Making the playoffs, maybe even winning a Superbowl. Isn't the point of your team to get better? The Raiders aren't exactly adept at drafting in the first round. Isn't Palmer right now better than Russell EVER was?

They could get 5-6 quality years out of him if it works out... that's what I meant by successful...

This can not happen. Mr Brown of the Bengals is a man of principal. He said he would not trade Palmer because palmer signed a contract to play with the bengals.

I agree with this. QB is by far the most important position on the field and can make or break your team. Palmer was a worthy #1 overall and a top QB for several years. IMO the lousy management and circus atmosphere in Cincy with Ocho and T.O. just beat him down. If the knee is okay, they might have a very good QB for the next five or six years now.

I mean, look at this last draft. Teams gave up top-15 overall picks for Jake Locker and Christian Ponder. Everyone is having to overpay to try to get a QB.

Preaching to the choir here, I do it every day and twice on Sunday.

QB is the most important position in pro football. While I agree that is alot to give up for an old QB, they have a good OL and a great running game so the QB is the missing piece.

I don't like picks given up, but in their position as far as a team, they needed to take the chance. Do you want a ring in this day and age, or do you wanna just give hope to fans year after to year without a reward.

Guy really wasnt as good after hurting his knee. Too old to give up that much. Makes the RW and Galloway trades look sane.

He took them to the playoffs the year after he hurt his knee.

They lost in the wildcard game.

Yes sit is, but as Chocolate Lab pointed out, if you overpay for any position on your team, you overpay for QB...

It's not like Palmer is an unknown quantity. When he is good, he is REALLY good. This is the X Factor in the deal. Can he be good again? If so, then it lessens the blow of two number ones...

If not, then it likens to Joey Galloway/Roy Williams...

It helps when your WR are running the correct routs and not constantly complainging. Notice TO and Ocho are also gone. One of Palmers best games last season was when both those bone heads were out of the game.

I'm not going to say there are not question marks on Palmer but there was more to what was going on that just Palmer play
