If that's the case, as much as I love him and no disrespect toward him, if I was Jerry I'd have called and offered Romo for 3 or 4 first round picks. If Palmer at 32, and what he's done in his career, is worth 2 first then surely Jerry could have squeezed another 1 or 2 first round picks out of them for Romo.


Hell i'd have taken the 2 firsts and a couple seconds or something if they're just going to give away quality draft picks like that for 1 player.

I heard Oakland already doesn't have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th rd pick this coming draft. No pick in rounds 1-4.

And, the funnies thing about the whole trade is that in the end, Pryor will be the best QB on that team.

Palmer flat out sucks.

one thing that adds value to the deal is that Palmer is under contract for several more years -- the Raiders don't have to give him a huge bonus in addition to giving up picks

By the end of his contract, he will likely have earned less than the great Jamarcus Russell did in his rookie season...

No reason to be selfish here, we give up Romo, we give up the useful lives of Ware, Witten, and pretty much everyone else on our team. Cincy is rebuilding and they made the right move for their team.

We give up Romo, and we have McGee starting, not good.

And if the guy is as good as believed, and advertised, you could possibly have the next great QB getting you into title contention in 2-3 years which would still allow Witten and Ware time to be here, and contribute and play at a high level, and contribute to a championship(s).


Now don't get me wrong I am a Romo fan. ANd I do believe we're going to win with him. But it's rare for a team to be willing to give up that kind of stuff for 1 guy and I feel Romo is definately better than Palmer and you could get more for him from the Raiders.

I really don't mean to make a big deal out of this, but a few weeks ago, I made a thread about Michael Vick's broken hand that was ultimately moved to the NFL zone. A day later, another member of this forum initiated a thread with basically the same topic, but you allowed it to remain in the Fans Zone. I am not seeing much consistency on this board. I would think that you would be consistent in applying the rules of this forum, but apparently I thought wrong.

The Bengals have traded quarterback Carson Palmer to the Raiders for a first-round pick in 2012, and a conditional first-round pick in 2013, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

News of the potential trade was first broken by Jay Glazer of FOX. Glazer reports that the 2013 pick is a second-round selection that can become a first-round pick.

I agree, Romo is worth more than Palmer to me. Now that might not be a national viewpoint of course, but it is mine. I just think that the Bengals are starting over with a disaster of a team for the last few years, and they are in a totally different position than we are as far as a team.

The Bengals have Dalton through all of this for this year, and we would have Kitna and Mcgee, so our season would be over. This is just a trade we couldn't make.

This thread will be moved to the NFL zone soon enough, it is the biggest news in the NFL for the day and gets the most visibility. What? Deion said Grossman is the best in the NFCE... and Beck? Always hated his music...

Campbell is a class act that was treated poorly in Washington... he'll land somewhere if Palmer ends up panning out...

I love what the Bengals are doing. They have a bunch of really good yound talent...and finally a bunch of guys that aren't head major cases. AJ green is amazing, gresham is a stud, Simpson is good too. Not to mention one of the league's top rated defenses.
If they snag 2 firsts ( i can't imagine anyone would be so dumb as pay that) or even two 2nd rounders (still very high), then they have to be stoked.
They have their QB, so this is almost a free gift for them.
