ESPN Poll: How many games will we win under Phillips

If you liked Bill Parcells and his 9-7 records of the last couple of years you will love Wade Phillips. We will win every bit as many games with Wade Phillips as Head Coach as we did with Bill Parcells as Head Coach. Unfortunately I don't think we will win any more games with Phillips than we did with Parcells.

We are about to be treated to several years of high end mediocrity before slipping back into low end mediocrity. Meaning that we will win 9 or 10 (maybe even 11) games and go one and out in the playoffs for 2 or 3 years before falling back to being a .500 team or worse. That is the best that I expect from Wade Phillips just as it was the best that I expected from Bill Parcells.

God I Hope I'm Wrong!

Here you go. Phillips was fired from Buffalo after refusing to fire his special teams coach. Doesn't sound like something a puppet would do:
Phillips DESERVED to be fired in Buffalo for replacing Flute with Johnson going into the playoffs after Flute had gotten them their. That was the stupidest coaching move ever and it makes my skin crawl to think that he is our HC now.

Disgruntledly Yours,

YES! Without knowing what next year's schedule is
Without knowing what coaches will be in place
Without seeing what FA loses or gains occur
Without knowing what kind of offensive and defensive philosophies will be in place
Without . . . .

Yes, by all means, make a laughable prediction like that, based on what? How your hair parted this morning?
As if WP can just waltz in an go 12-4.

LOL

Good one!!!!!

So great are your guesses that you can do this before WP can even get the team members' names straight.

Outstanding!
Well, Vegas doesn't have a problem with coming out with SB odds so soon.

Phillips did in buffalo what he's done every where. No different than Parcells did here. He can get a team to the brink but not over the top. If you make him a hero for standing up to Ralph Wilson then so be it. Ralph is no Jerry Jones. My opinion of Jones will not change. Sorry. Phillips is at his last hope as a HC. That's just how I see it, again sorry.

I guess those odds won't change in the next 11 months?

Are you changing your tune about him being a puppet?

Not at all. My opinion is obviously different than yours. I guess we shall see.

Credit him for 13/14 years ago sure. We can't live on that for ever. No matter the reasons he still hasn't had success as a GM.

Jones' success is more recent than Parcells'.

OK what's the point? He's had way more bad years than Parcells.

A lot of coaches would be fired for making incorrect QB decisions. Under your criteria, Cowher should have been fired for starting Kordell Stewart!

Phillips still finished 29-21 in three years in Buffalo after taking over a 6-10 team. He also had to find a future starting QB in Buffalo. Flutie was no spring chicken.

I'm more concerned with how we finish the season. That's been our problem the last few years.

That will be the litmus test for Phillips. That, and our sack totals.

Parcells was 0-9 in same-season rematches in his four years in Dallas.

I'm sorry but we know what next year's schedule is, at least the teams if not the dates.

We basically know the staff with the exception of DC and it's pretty obvious that Phillips will be heavily involved there.

The only potential FA loses are Columbo and the two centers but Dallas is 20+ million under the cap so keeping them isn't a problem if Dallas decides to do so.

The offensive philosophy will remain pretty much the same because Saprano was retained while most would argue that any change in defensive philosophy is for the good.

sure they'll change but those factors that were listed didn't stop them from putting them out.

My point is simple, you're singing the Hee Haw song "Gloom...Despair....Oh Agony......" about Jones being in charge instead of supposedly Parcells yet the former has the more recent ring.

So we all aren't Homers of Jerrys. Pre Parcells and post Jimmy isn't so good. I give Jones props for the early nineties and I gave him props for the Parcells hire. I just don't see this as a good thing with Phillips. I guess those with out rose colored glasses shouldn't post. Sorry to bother you.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if they start 7-1. I also wouldn't be shocked at all if they finished 1-7- just based on recent history- I'm not getting excited with this team after 10 to 12 weeks ever again. That said, I think we'll be just fine with Phillips- maybe not 12-4 or anything like that but I think 10-6 is a real possibility.

I'll probably never be described as a "Homer of Jerry" but there's no need to continually bash him because you don't like a decision he made.

A lot of people are disappointed in his selection but they aren't carrying on like a two year old who has missed naptime.

Hmmm..

Am I not getting the definition of "same season rematches"?

Whats the definition of that which owes to 0-9... since we've obviously beaten some teams the 2nd time we've played them in a year. Like say the NYG this year. Lost the first one, won the second one.

Your opinions are based much more on emotion than fact. When I brought up the facts, you changed the argument. When I called you on it, you said it was just your opinion. Your opinion about Phillips being a puppet is in conflict with the type of coach Phillips has been in the past.
