I'll probably never be described as a "Homer of Jerry" but there's no need to continually bash him because you don't like a decision he made.

A lot of people are disappointed in his selection but they aren't carrying on like a two year old who has missed naptime.

Funny thing is I'm not that disappointed. It's better than Norv in my book. What I am saying is his hiring of a guy who has won nothing, not interviewed by any other team and seen as a short timer wasn't the best move.
If we are planing to go young in three years then we should have pulled the trigger now. If Parcells left a bad taste in Jerry's mouth than no way does he give control to Phillips. Jerry as an owner is great. Jerry as a GM is beyond terrible. When he controls the coach it's even worse. I have an opinion that he will revert, and not all the way back to the early nineties.

By the way I did miss my nap today.:D

Well, Vegas doesn't have a problem with coming out with SB odds so soon.

Do you think the Vegas odds will change in the next 11 months, or do you think we should bet heavily right now!

I think at this time last year the Vegas betting was on Pittsburgh and Seattle. ;)

Your opinions are based much more on emotion than fact. When I brought up the facts, you changed the argument. When I called you on it, you said it was just your opinion. Your opinion about Phillips being a puppet is in conflict with the type of coach Phillips has been in the past.

Not so. I don't care about what Phillips did any where else. He's here now.
He wasn't interviewed for any other job, none. He's up in years and is at more than likely his last shot at HC. He is now working for J, who is a control freak with 98% of his coaches. I'm not that mad that he's here. I just don't think he will have the control that Parcels or Jimmy had. He's more along the Gaily, Berry and Campo guys. It's my opinion.

We went 9-7 this year with no D the last 6 games. So I'll say at least 10-6.

Every year we pick the Cowboys to win more games than they actually do.

I'm going 10-6, maybe 9-7. Anything above that will be gravy.

Parcells hasn't been a HOF level coach since he left the NYG...To quote Parcells...you are what you are and he's a 500 coach who was 0-2 in the playoffs and had 4 straight DEC swoons.

So in other words...any of the ten Jerry interviewed would be a better coach.

:lmao2: please

I'm not talking about that, just the part where anyone could do better, and if I'm not mistaken, Phillips is 0-3 in the playoffs in his career

what you said was alot of hate-filled bull and you know it, I expect better from you

I don't know why you guys can't leave Parcells alone

And I don't know why some will defend his fat arse at every turn.

We paid him to be a HOF coach, what we got on the sidelines was Chan Gailey...sorry, but that doesn't cut it, nor should I feel it's beneath me to point it out.

After all, as the teflon coach said, "You are what you are."

I defend Parcells from dumbarse comments, but it's whatever dude, I'm moving on w/ Wade Phillips as our HC, you can continue stewing about Parcells, carry-on

A lot of coaches would be fired for making incorrect QB decisions. Under your criteria, Cowher should have been fired for starting Kordell Stewart!

Phillips still finished 29-21 in three years in Buffalo after taking over a 6-10 team. He also had to find a future starting QB in Buffalo. Flutie was no spring chicken.
Making an incorrect QB decision is not unforgivable it happens to all coaches sometimes. But to play all year with one QB and WIN and make it INTO the playoffs with that QB and then suddenly change and bench a winning QB when the playoffs arrive is FAR different from trying to develop a QB like Kordell Stewart and holding out hope and sticking with him for too long. It was a STUPID move by Phillips and there is no other way to describe it.

As for Phillips record it is exactly what I was describing as "high end" mediocrity. He did not have a losing record in Buffalo at all and was in the playoffs two of his three years there. He also did not win a playoff game while in Buffalo and was one and done every trip he has ever made to the playoffs. I've been seeing that crap for the last four years with Parcells. Why hire more of the same?

I know that everyone is going to jump on Phillips bandwagon and point out just how high his level of mediocrity reached and assure us all that he was just a inch (or a QB change) away from going all the way. He will have more talent here or he will have more money or better facilities or whatever coat of high gloss paint you want to try to put on this picture. He will still be the same slightly above average coach he has been everywhere else he has NEARLY done well. Sorry, just can’t get excited by more of the same ALMOST winning.

There is this thing called hyperbole, where you exaggerate to make a point, which is what I was doing to the dumbarse Parcells jocksniffing troll that hi-jacked the thread.

The forum is full of Parcells, Bledsoe or TO fans that aren't Cowboy fans and those trolls get on my nerves, so I will overstate occasionally for affect.

This team has talent to get beyond where we are, Parcells failing was not getting the most from the team he assembled, and his game day coaching is lacking, IMO.

We never got the HOF Parcells, we got the one who wanted to recoup the money his ex-wife took in the divorce, and that makes me mad. I'm glad we have a more talented roster than we had when he got here, but I had no faith that he could get them over the hump.

Obviously, we'd be better off with Parcells over the likes of Haley, Bowles or Gibbs...the rest I'm not so sure. Phillips, Rivera, Garrett, Caldwell and Singletary, and possibly even Norv all may have sparked the team enough to take the next step.
