Just like I could say Barber has done something neither of Portis and Betts has done and that is make the Probowl.....whats ur point?

Actually no I don't -- the Pro Bowl is a joke, and should not be used to determine if a player is "good" or not.

I notice teams think that when they have so few participants, especially participants they spend a lot of money for from other teams

I'd say Cooley is pretty good. I'd say Chris Samules is pretty good. I've said time and time again, Randy Thomas is the most underrated lineman in the league. Like having Santana Moss across from TO wouldn't make you personally wet yourself. Both Portis and Betts have done something neither of your starting RBs have done: run for 1000 yards.

I'm not a fan of the wideouts who can only run flies sorry mate. I like Portis (not betts tho). Julius ran for a grand once and that alone should say something in 06 he ran for 1084.

I'm wont knock R.T. hes good (i normally neglect the o-line when it comes to good offensive players though).

cooley egh.

Regardless how one feels about the Pro Bowl, this looks badly for the Redskirts.

Weird, isn't it?

I notice teams overrate the Pro Bowl when they have a lot of players there -- especially ones that in no way deserve to be there...it's crazy...

Honestly, I didn't get riled up when Barber made it over Portis. I didn't get riled up when 158 Cowboys made it. I just don't care. It's entirely name recognition and who's more popular. Not who's a better player.

Just curious about Cooley, he dated a Cheerleader before they got married right? I thought that was something a player and or cheerleader could be kicked off the team for since its fraternizing?

Dallas has/had that rule but I don't think it applies league-wide...

That's why Debbie had to do Dallas instead of the team...

She got kicked off the team. A player get kicked off the team for fraternizing with cheerleaders? That's a bit excessive, considering some of the transgressions of players recently, don't you think?

GM: "Well, we're willing to overlook the 3 DUIs, 6 kids from 7 different mothers, the weapons and the drug possessions charges, but fraternizing with cheerleaders is unacceptable! We're going to have to let you go!"

Yeah.. It is crazy..

I notice teams say the pro-bowl doesn't mean squat when they don't have players make it.

Crazy I tell you...

And it's the be-all, end-all of player evaluation when you do...

I don't know, thats why I was asking. I don't know how it works, I just seem to remember hearing about it but forgot what the outcome was

I was joking with you :)

But can you blame him? She's out-stand-ing!

Yeah she was pretty hot, that was about the only good thing coming out of the Commanders camp:suxskins::D

I don't care about the Pro Bowl either, but you can bet your buns that the players on the Commanders do. Most players have bonuses in their contracts for making the Pro Bowl. Especially if they are signing a Free Agent contract.

That is probably my only issue with it, now that you mention it. Especially when players who have the "name" and only played 1/2 a season, like Trotter in '04, make it over someone who has had an outstanding year.

Other then that, the Pro Bowl is a nice thing to hang your hat on, but really, shouldn't be used as the defining "who's good and who's not" anymore.

I.E. How in the world have guys like London Fletcher (not just because he's a Skin -- he was worth in Buffalo too) not made a Pro Bowl?

Because there are linebackers, like Patrick Willis, D-Ware, Urlacher, who are simply far better than him. That's how he doesn't make it. And don't give me that Willis makes it, beating him out, on name reconition when Willis is a rookie.

Fletcher is a good player but at the linebacker spot, at least in the NFC, he's fighting an uphill battle against several players that are just flat better than he is.

I do agree, however, that the Pro Bowl is not the be all end of all of player evaluation. That will not happen until they take the fan vote out of it. The fan vote, being roughly half the voting, is what clouds it because guys do get in, with a load of fans, on popularity only. That's how a guy like Roy Williams continues to make it each year despite the fact that the last two seasons he's really not deserved to.

It's also why a guy like T-New is only just now making his first appearance, this last season, when he's been one of the best Corners in the league for a few years.

It happens that way I guess.

I also agree that yes Portis should have made it in 05 (or 06 can't remember the exact year now) when he had those 1500 plus yards and double digit TDs.
