Still you, I said that that we know what we are getting. I even said there could be small amounts of improvement, but I stick by my argument that they aren't going to all-of-a-sudden be great players. If that's what you are banking your argument on, that's fine, believe it.
I'm not banking on any argument. I'm merely refuting your statement that Gurode is too old to manifest any substantial improvement. It simply isn't true. Gurode isn't even 30 years old yet and didn't become the Cowboys' starting center until last season when he made his first Pro Bowl. He's a late bloomer, no question, but late bloomers often reach their potential much later in their careers (see Green, Trent).
Again, I never said anything like that.
I'm rapidly exhausting my ways of explaining this fairly simply concept. Let's try an analogy:
If I tell you that I voted for George W. Bush in the November elections, I'm implying that I didn't vote for John Kerry in the November elections. Correct?
Similarly, when you state that the Cowboys "know exactly what they're getting in Gurode," you're implying that Gurode has reached his ceiling and can only get worse.
It's the same concept.
At 28 years old, he should be in his prime. That's all I'm saying about it.
He might be in his prime if he had been starting at center since he was 22. He hasn't.
So you expect the cowboys to resign Flo for a couple of years to let these guys progress??? I'm not trying to challenge you, just curious as to your take on it.
I couldn't possibly predict the actions of the Cowboys braintrust with any degree of accuracy, but in my opinion, if Flo plays well this season, the Cowboys will likely try to resign him.
