ESPN: Terence Newman signs with Vikings

Well, we just disagree. He's played well enough to go to Pro Bowls and has started in the league for a long time now. That argues many have thought differently.

Pro Bowl? They needed a live body! Witten's played that role at least 4 times in his career.

Even substitutes to the Pro Bowl aren't considered garbage. If you think he didn't live up to his draft status or play well due to injury then I'm with you. He's a talented guy who's a team player, can cover and recover, is a positive influence in the clubhouse and one on the field and makes an effort to tackle. That's a good football player.

Positive influence in the clubhouse? I guess pushing your position coach on the sidelines is uplifting!

I guess going on First Take and trashing your head coach because he had the audacity to point out that you made a critical mistake that helped cost a victory is positive.

Newman was a solid player who happened to be an egomaniac and a jerk who wasn't good enough to justify his attitude.

If I can't get to Hawaii I guess i'll have to go to Canton ... Only as a visitor Mr. Newman. Never as a member!

He alive? Send him over!

Good for Terence.

I'm happy he's managed to extend his career quite a bit since he left Dallas.

12 years a Slave*, I mean, cornerback in the NFL is a pretty good career.

*A nod to Adrian Peterson for anyone who gets the reference. ;)

I never expected to see Newman still in league. He looked like he was on his last leg in Dallas. Now Cincy very good front 4 helped things for sure.

I think he was also allowed to heal in Cincy. He always played hurt in Dallas, and it's not like we gave him a pass rush.

always liked him and whats his name (CB who played opposite with the long hair...crap his name is escaping me) but they always had to play with a cruddy front 7 and took a beating cuz of it

and coming from a known Romo Hater why would anyone think your opinion is worth a rats rear end?

Not only that, but Newman had a season or two where he did not give up a single TD and one where he gave up only two. He was not the best corner in the league while he was here and maybe did not live up to the top 5 pick in the draft but he was far from bad. He was a solid corner, despite the lack of pass rush and support.

I'm not a Romo hater. maybe because i'm one of the few who said the cowboys would have a successful season in 2014 long before the season started. 11 wins is what i predicted. i know my stuff.

Terence was a good player for us...nothing amazing ..just a solid corner...never forget him running down Randy...one of my fave memories. his main problem was he could not catch good...he was a solid player for us though..

How old is Newman?

There were a couple of years in a row where he didn't give up a TD. @AdamJT13 has some stats on him. The fact that he's still in the league at 36 is a testament to his skill set.
