i think Romo's salary cap structure is about 2 years in terms of dead money etc.
would be nice if he can play well for 2 years.

I don't disagree with you that these guys can play longer than ever before, however, at the end of the day when a young buck 23-24 year old OLB/DE slams your 36-37 QB to the ground, bad things happen.

If Tony Romo was a 3 steps and gone type of QB I'd be totally buying that he can play 4-5 years more. Unfortunately Tony Romo tends to hold on the ball, loves to run around the pocket, and inevitable because of that take big hits. I don't see Tony Romo changing... and that's why I wonder if he can even make it through this year.

I think he could be pretty effective playing three steps and gone. He sees the field quickly, has the release. Uses the pocket well. Right now, he's effective the way they run things, but that doesn't mean he won't adapt when the physical limitations become a problem.

I worry about his back a lot more than I worry about his arm giving out. He's just got to be smart about it when the time comes.

The problem with older quarterbacks is their drop off happens quickly. They can go from being great one season to being slightly below average the next even without any other factors in play. It happened to Brett Favre and Peyton Manning and many other quarterbacks. Sure, Peyton won a Super Bowl this past season, but it was obvious to everyone, including Peyton, that he wasn't the same quarterback any more.

Hopefully, we'll get another 2 years at least out of Romo at a high level, but we need to be ready for life after Romo.

Whatever number of years the negative Nellies are throwing out in these Romo threads, you can just add 2 years to get the number they would actually bet their own money on, as opposed to the "running their mouth" number...

Just in case it hasn't been noticed, Romo shys away from contact now. He opens himself up to even more contact because he is no longer elusive. If the rush gets to him, he turns away and braces for impact. It's really quite a nerve racking thing to behold. With that line and Zeke, I will give him 2 years max.

Romo can take hits..it was only last year that he got injured getting hit...I'm not the biggest fan of Romo when it comes to the playoffs but he's still a top 8 QB.

4 or 5 years or games? Romo needs to lose weight, lessen the INTS, increase the TDs and stay out the media...I'd love it if someone had the list Parcells left for him. I just know the man is running out of time in the league..he needs to do something differently in my opinion to get us over the hump...If not him, then can someone win the lottery, go to Vegas..double down and then invest in a penny stock and have that stock turn into the next Apple, Microsoft or Facebook and then go buy the team from Jerry?

It's late and I haven't had a good drink yet...but I may need to catch up.

Last season that he played majority of the games (2014) he posted 34 tds and 9 ints. Please tell us again how he needs to increase tds and reduce ints

I think Romo finishes his contract. I don't think he plays beyond that unless there is simply no one there to take the reins, which is an FO problem.

I stopped reading his post after Tony needs to lose weight, but that's just asinine. He must be a troll or literally knows nothing about football. Heck, people were complaining Tony wasn't throwing enough interceptions in '14, forgot what the argument was for that.

Jeez -- I'm starting to feel like Romo may eventually become the only NFL QB to draw Social Security benefits. -- (shudder)

I think we feel that way because that's the way it's always been. But with treatment advances, medical advancements, and equipment advances that way of thinking my be out dated. These guys are not the average joe. They have access to the best of everything and cutting edge technology. 40 is the new 30. I think we will see over the next several years players that do play longer than the ones we or I anyway grew up watching. And that dont take into account the fact that the qb position specifically is very protected today compared to even 15 years ago. I am one that thinks Romon can play at a high level for the next 3 years. So 4 would not shock me.

Yep.

This is exactly what the advertisement wants you to believe. There is always evolution, things will get always better, bigger, faster. And that is so great.

But in the end its not like that. Its just what the industry need us to believe because they have to sell their product. The NFL sells Football, The Pharmacy sells new active agents etc ...

The capitalistic systems needs growth because it is based on depts. To grow you need new markets. This is the way to aquire new markets. Create a demand for something. And the story is: Faster, bigger, greater is much better. And there will never be a border we cant overstep.

People love this feeling because it pretends immortality. So they believe that crap and in the end buy that product (you watch another season with Romo, you buy new "power" food", buy the new iphone etc ...) and you are getting frustrated and depressed because you are confrontized with your own limits everyday but think everybody else is getting better and is living the dream the industry suggested.

I do think Romo can play another 4 years. But in 4 years there will be much improved technology and enhancements that he may play for another 3 years. After that who knows ? Maybe he could play 1 more year ?

Man i am so pumped up itm going to buy another Romo jersey right now!

Until the first hit sends him and me back to reality.

The 36-year-old quarterback said he agreed with Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones' assessment that he has four or five more years left, before jokingly interjecting "seven or eight years" because of modern medicine.

"I'm not in my mid-20s anymore, but I do think based on what my situation has been like the last three or four years, I do think this [offseason] is drastically different," Romo said after Wednesday's organized team activity.

lets start off with 1 full year and then worry about 2-3 more, tony. love me some romo but this is getting about as stupid as when nolan ryan was on the DL all the time at the end of his career and he kept doing advil commercials saying 'i'm ready to go another 9 innings!' when he wasn't even active.

Not much will chance in the next three years. 39 isn't that old. Manning had worse injuries than Tony's back. Montana played a long time after his back problems.
5 years seem right to me.

Oh...so I'm the ONLY one that thinks Tony appears out of shape? Ummm, yeah I'm trolling...and have been doing so for years. I don't think one year makes a career. Good or Bad. Just my opinion though. Let's just hope he's healthy, that they stress the running game (they still do this in football right?) and that they win...Hope that's an okay comment to make. :lmao2:
