Onlything Wade should have earned was a one way ticket to the head coaches graveyard.

We've made so much bottom-line progress during his tenure with the team. He's taken us to a whole new level.

*fist pump*
Oddly enough, you're unintentionally correct. He's helped put the team over a hump it couldn't reach in the past 13 years. And the arrow's still pointed up. Add to that he's the winningest head coach in Cowboys history, and I'd say he's earned the right to, at a minimum, keep his job.

Whether he's earned your adoration is another story. He should brush up on his press conference skills for that.

Or maybe he could just work on not ending our seasons with pathetic, uninspired, embarassing losses. That would be a start.

We won a playoff game....yay...

3 year deal so he's under contract. i wouldn't expect to see him go anywhere. he's become a leader for the defense.

Give him a 7 year deal , he's a wonderful coach , a swell guy, a loving son, has a hot daughter and you just wanna feel sorry for him. Great great coach, great mind and his team is always so disciplined ; penalties are few an far between - the Cowboys are also always ready to play hard for him.

Heck make it 10.

:laugh2:

Falling short, here we come. ;)

I believe this decision was made after we beat the Philadelphia Eagles the last game of the Season.

I guess Troy Aikman was wrong when during the broadcast yesterday he stated, "If you think Jerry Jones is content at just winning a Wild Card Game then you don't know him".

Even though he didn't look like it yesterday, Jerry Jones seems very content.

I think one of the problems is that Wade Phillips probably has little say so over the Offense, which is what destroyed us yesterday.

Not only did Wade Phillips not hire Jason Garrett, but it seems to be very known that Jerry Jones has made promises to Jason Garrett.

I think it is impossible to "manage" a subordinate under those circumstances.

Not surprised - and not happy. I'm not happy with this team -it has nothing to do with Wade, he's just the head man in charge.

I think Jerry is afraid of another Sean Payton situation, where you let the guy go and then he blows your team out in your own building the year after.

We're built to win now. Changing head coaches right now would set us back. I'm not happy with everything concerning Phillips, but I think firing him would be a bad idea. Now Garrett is a different matter. Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing us go in a different direction with an OC. He's just too inconsistent and always seems to call a stupid play that loses yardage and kills drives (toss to Barber 7 yards deep in the backfield comes to mind).

Why do you say that?

Maybe it's just that Jerry correctly realizes that firing everyone and starting over doesn't necessarily mean you go any farther.

I think that if that were the case Wade could ask Jerry not to invoke his option and let him test the open market.I think Jerry likes Wade enough to let him walk if he thought he couildn't handle the current situation with Garrett.

But you have to also be careful that you don't waste your talent. The Cowboys are a young team but on the brink of greatness. You need to make sure you have a coach that can take that talent to the next level.

If we're still in a holding pattern two years from now, it will all be a waste especially when you have a team that has the potential to get to the Super Bowl.

Yes, and if I were Wade, I would demand that Garrett be fired before signing an extension.

The tables may be reversed now. The pressure is on Jerry, not so much on Wade. Wade has proven that he can coach up a defense in this league. I'm sure many other teams would love to have him as a DC.

I'm sorry you're having trouble understanding the disconnect between a fan being happy with the season and a head coach "earning" the right not to be fired.
