Yes, and if I were Wade, I would demand that Garrett be fired before signing an extension.

The tables may be reversed now. The pressure is on Jerry, not so much on Wade. Wade has proven that he can coach up a defense in this league. I'm sure many other teams would love to have him as a DC.

I'm sure other teams would like to have Wade as a DC as well, but how many teams would like to have Wade the HC?

I think Jerry is afraid of another Sean Payton situation, where you let the guy go and then he blows your team out in your own building the year after.

True, but you cannot operate a franchise on fear.

Folks, I am not calling for Wade Phillips' head.

My contention is that if Wade Phillips is your guy, you need to do 2 things:

1) Sign him to a multi-year contract

2) Let him assemble his own staff, including the Offensive Coordinator

Even though I have never liked Jason Garrett, I would rather have Jason Garrett be the Head Coach if that means he gets to pick his entire staff.

Good for Wade. I'm happy for him. And I'm sure the players are also happy.

The defense played well. Jenkins and Spencer really developed on defense. If Scandrick can do likewise, we will have a really solid defense next year.

No you don't.

And how do you know that #1 he wants Garrett replaced or #2 would choose a better replacement.

JJ had to bring Wade back Firing Wade at this point would set this team back.
I just wish Garrett wasn't retained.

I think you missed my point. Wade wouldn't be on the unemployment line very long if Jerry let him go based on his defense's performance this year.

The pressure is on Jerry, and Wade should demand Garrett be fired before agreeing to an extension.

This makes no sense. Sometimes when I read posts like this I have to wonder if there's not an underlying agenda..............
In this case being that you simply wnat Jerry to further remove himself from a position of power.

With both Garrett and Wade as his hires to effectively each run half the team, it puts Jerry in a psuedo HC role by default.

Not saying I agree or completely disagree with this take on the current situation.

Whatever the reality is, we are making progress and staying the course is warranted.

I got what your saying.I think Wade the coordinator would have a job,but would Wade the HC have a job?I don't see Wade the HC geting all that much attention but could well be wrong.

Why do you say that?

Maybe it's just that Jerry correctly realizes that firing everyone and starting over doesn't necessarily mean you go any farther.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

I'm one of Jerry Jones' biggest supporters on this board.

This loss has nothing to do with Jerry Jones, he did his job.

I'm sorry you're having trouble understanding the disconnect between a fan being happy with the season and a head coach "earning" the right not to be fired.
We've shown consistent, bottom-line improvement since Wade arrived. He's obviously the head coach that can get us over that last hump. His teams consistently show up when it matters most and absolutely DO NOT fall flat on their faces. So he's earned all sorts of things.

Garrett is the one who needs let go. IMO....

What if Garrett just needed the experience of a game like this one vs Minnesota, and goes on to become a great playcaller?

I guess this society has turned into a now society. no patience, everything immediately. fast cash via frivolous lawsuits, get rich schemes and at any cost. I imagine such coaches as landry, Noll, Cowher, and dungy would have never stood a chance in this new era.

He didn't get that last year with 44-6?

If that is what Jerry wants to do that then go ahead Jerry it is your team.

Just don't expect me to think it is a good idea and yes I hope we win next year but I am not expecting them to win.

You realize unlike some of those older coaches you mention their are shorter windows of opportunity to win in this league. FA makes it hard to constiently excel plus we added more teams so the talent is also spread out and one injury can destory a season for some teams due to the lack of depth.

That feeds into the issue

Very depressing news.

Three years in a row the Cowboys haven't shown up for their last game.

And have been embarrassed all three times.

Now that's progress right there.

God I'm glad he earned it.
