So you want to bench Roy because of something he said in the media?vta;3026969 said:Or, players might try harder to live up to their mouths and paychecks. Roy Williams wants to be 'elite' so he say's. Well, by all means be elite. Don't tell me what you want to be, be what you're being paid to be. Until then he's anything but and is behind Crayton, who isn't telling us he wants to be elite.

Yeah, that makes sense.
And the Romo-over-Bledsoe example by Wahoo doesn't fit, either. Romo played because Bledsoe had declined to the point that Romo was the better player. That's the whole point -- the better player plays.
So Crayton is better than Roy?
Are you this obtuse? You really think "living up to expectations" trumps playing the better player?vta;3027169 said:Come on man, are you really this obtuse?
Regardless of anything Roy has said, what is he judged by? What he's done on the field. Which is...?

Expectations and contract aside, the better player should play. So you think Crayton is a better WR than Roy?

In a recent conversation, former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson considered the question of what percentage of professional football players are capable of properly motivating themselves.
Johnson required less time to form his response than for him to transform the Cowboys from laughingstocks to a Super Bowl dynasty. "You have a handful of players on every team who can do it themselves,'' he said. "The rest need somebody who is always on their rear ends -- and that's why football teams have coaches.''

Great read a nice little tidbit of why Dallas is doomed to mediocrity and failure.
TwoDeep3;3027318 said:This article assumes several things that may not be true.
1st is that Austin's best position is the one Roy Williams occupies. Irvin told Werder this wasn't the fact, but he ignored it.
2nd that having Crayton and Austin on the field will be a better dynamic than Austin and Williams. We've seen one -against a horrid defense - but have not seen the other.
3rd, that Williams has such lack of respect in the locker room this team would be upset if Crayton was put in his normal position as the #3 receiver.
Now I will agree that having a foot on the back of player's necks is important. And a team will not flourish if they are left to their own devices for motivation.
This has been my biggest complaint about Phillips. And I do believe Jones has a hand in the way this team is handled.
I would tend to believe the entire team needs a motivator and not just Williams. They have the talent to be better than what we have seen. They under achieve. That is Wade's job to get them mentally ready.
Some make fun of Werder. It was just an opinion of his.
