Citing "whispers around the league," ESPN's Adam Schefter hinted on his blog that Alabama OG Chance Warmack could be in for a draft-day mini-slide.

Schefter believes it "wouldn't be completely shocking" if Warmack were available at the Cowboys' No. 18 overall selection. Warmack is a lock first-rounder, but keep in mind many pegged David DeCastro as a top 10-15 pick last April and he lasted to the Steelers' pick at 24. Guard is not a coveted NFL position

We know the history of guards in the draft and I expect him to be there at 18. Two questions are what are the alernatives at 18, and how far back could they trade and still get Warmack.

I expect him to be available at 18.

Cooper, maybe not. But I fully expect Warmack to be available.

He's my top target. I prefer him to Cooper, even though he's not as nimble or versatile, I just think he's the superior football player.

All the pieces are falling into place ... for Jerry to trade up and get a CB or WR!

Seriously, though, I think one of the two OGs will be there at 18. I only cosidering passing if there's a DT or someone like Werner or Lane falls.

Warmack or Cooper will be there, and I'm running to the table right away with one of these guys on the card.

Can we all chip in and buy you a ticket to New York, just in case Jerry doesn't do what most on here would like him to do?

Cooper or Warmack need to be the pick over any safety or DT.

So now we're trading back and still getting Warmack.
No thanks RS.
Assuming Cooper and Richardson are not there as well, I would take Warmack right then and there.
The Giants and Chicago are right behind us and would love to get him.

I live in Jersey so I wouldn't even need one! :laugh2:

i think most agree and have said for a while that once the pre draft hype dies down, one of warmack, cooper, richardson will be there at 18

we just need to keep out powder dry and ignore stupid jerry impulses to trade up

This.

Draft pick by order of preference and availability:

  1. Richardson
  2. Cooper
  3. Warmack
  4. Vaccaro
  5. Austin

How far do you think Vacarro may drop?

I think the Cowboys have to take him at 18 if Richardson, Cooper and Warmack are gone and he is still on the board.

Cincinatti would be all over Vaccaro.

i agree that if the cowboys value him highly, they may have to it at 18
i was thinking more about (if the big 3 are gone) trading down to mid 20s and taking someone like sly williams and pick up a third and then use our rd 2 or 3 pick to address safety

but, if we really think that vacarro is head and shoulders better than the other safeties, and if he is there at 18, we will want to take him there

I bet they're BOTH gone in the top 10,,, at least that's what Tim and Pat say on Sirius Radio, and they're no slouches.

I don't think two G's have ever been drafted in the top 10. Like EVER!

Only TWO times in the past 20 YEARS has just ONE guard gone in the top 15.
