Spain may have shown they are the best team in the tournament. Still debatable. What is not debatable in my opinion is that Ireland is the worst team of the 16.

Yeah the Irish just were simply out classed, I did think the Spanish side were the best coming in but after that Italy game - not so sure, they are missing their top scorer in Villa and their top defender in Pujole - I wanna see what they do vs Croatia, should be a good game.

So far tho Spain and Germany seem to be the 2 top teams.

Scottish commentator (and bitter ex Celtic player) just made an arse of himself when M'Vila came on for France by claiming he really ran the show when he played against Celtic in Europe last season "not that thats hard"
Only problem was we won 3-1 and M'Vila was rotten and got himself sent off late on that night.

spain looked like the best team in the world. if torres is that sharp they dont even need villa... as crazy as that is to say.

was glad england for the win today. never been a big fan of that side but i do like their youth plus my chels players.

new american kits are ok to me. not an eyesore and not a must own. just okay. they are identifiable but hardly exciting.
the england kit today was outstanding.
the russian kit is terrible.

So before the England v Sweden game, the Swedes are a team of world beaters & we have to remind everyone that England has never beaten Sweden in a competitive game.

Fast Forward a couple of hours after England have won, and the story changes to well we should beat them because they are just a very average team.

I love the English media, deluded is an understatement.

As for the game, I think England just about deserved to win, they started quite well & had a couple of decent chances before going 1-0 up.
At the end of the first half & the start of the second Sweden were well on top, and probably deserved to go 2-1 up. But fair play to Roy Hodgson, the substitution changed the game & except for two very good saves by the Swedish keeper from Terry & Gerrard England could have scored a couple more.

As for the rest of the tournament, I'd like to see Spain beat a decent side (Ireland have been the worst team by a long way unfortunately), before crowning them champions again. Will be interesting to see how they do against Croatia as I personally didn't think they were that great against Italy.

Germany look like, well Germany. Organised & Efficient with just enough of a creative spark to win games. And as they are so hard to beat they always have penalties to fall back on. To me, they are going to be the best team in Europe for the next 8-10 years as much of this team is quite young.

The England team played well enough to win that game though it was touch and go for awhile...Hats off to Sweden for a fantastic showing...

It looks like to me like spain started to get "it" by the second half of their second game by that I mean playing without a striker and the responsibilities of the midfielders

France also looks like they are starting to play better

I am disappointed in portugal and Ronaldo always seems to disappoint

Poland & Greece maybe the next teams eliminated

Germany makes me crazy as they could be so good but they aren't... failed passes, poor decisions and lack of effort by some players...at times they look so efficient (5 or 6 perfect passes) till it comes to the goal shot than the kicker misses wildly

Italy seems too streaky with everything they are doing to be a serious threat..If they can get some consistency I would like there chances better

There are so many similarities between the English and the DFW media it's not funny. The build 'em up and knock 'em down mentality is crazy....and they're not too subtle about it either.

Lots of similarities between their national team and the Cowboys as well.

Watching Ireland - Italy, so far not real impressed by the Italians.

It seems like they're so used to playin defensive - looking for the counter attack that they look awkward going forward and controlling the ball.

Im switching to the Spain-Croatia game also and I gotta say I do like the way Croatia puts pressure on the ball - they just don't sit back mesmerized by the Spanish ball control game.
The only thing is, its hard to keep that pace up.

One thing you have to tip your cap to Spain is that everyone of those players have such skill on the ball, they all make it look soooooooo easy.

Average team that gets hyped like a champions before every tournament

... and unrealistic fans that expect them to win every game no matter the odds.

media are sharks looking to sell things by and large. quality media are to be found but they are pushed to be salesmen.

watched today's games and was not as impressed by any side.

spain looked like a brazilian side on downers. always one step too slow pulling the trigger after some brilliant attacking to get chances.

italy looked neutered minus balotelli. he might be a tool but italy needs him as much as any side needs anyone (except maybe the czech needing cech).

tomorrow should be fun again but i am ready for the knockout games. time to see these guys play all out.
