They drafted a QB they liked. That is nothing? Can't even sign Foles? There was never any interest? Some of you guys need to back off the ledge a little.

Drafting Dak did nothing to improve the QB2 position THIS year...he may be the man next year but we spent the offseason talking about upgrading the back-up position and did nothing but hand the ball to KMoore.....I don't think we even invited any FAs to tryout or talk

stephen said backup QB was an offseason priority. Did nothing other than Dak and cannot even sign Foles. Now will have to waste a draft pick. Because this team does not believe in being proactive, but waiting until there is a crisis and the league knows we have to pay through the nose. Same can be said for DL and DB. We simply have done very little to address depth at our weekest positions. And then spend 2nd round picks on redshirt players. SMH

You act as though we do not have any QBs on the roster other than Romo, which is obviously not the case. Then you say "other than drafting Dak" as if that somehow did not count. We also have Showers on the roster but I guess he doesn't count in the same way that Romo didn't count either until he actually played and showed that he was indeed a player with potential.

I swear, some of you guys must get up and drink your own urine every morning to be so pissy about everything the Cowboys have done and failed to do in your eyes. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but with a perspective like that why not just stick a gun to your head and stop the self imposed suffering. Be expeditious about it!

You'd still be unhappy with their choice if Moore hadn't gotten injured.

While this is sort of off topic to the intent of the thread, please allow me to state emphatically...

Moore is not the answer and never will be.

Lighten up Francis.....our back-up QB situation has sucked for years

I liken this assertion to a student being asked by a teacher to add 2 plus 2, but before the student has a chance to answer the teacher screams in his or her face: "FAIL!" Can we at least see how the regular season plays out before we start grading the offseason. smh

Some priorities were that they DID do are:

  • draft a QB to groom----check, but would prefer one earlier
  • get Romo back healthy----check
  • upgrade the run game...huge check. drafted Zeke and added Morris
  • draft and bring in pass rush help----Drafted Tapper and brought in Mayowa....so-so...with suspensions, probably not enough
  • get Scandrick back healthy...check
  • draft and bring in DT help...check; brought in Thornton and drafted Collins
  • get Dez back healthy....check
  • etc

players getting healthy is hardly an accomplishment

Well one reason is the cowboys have not really done much in developing showers, I dont know why.
As for Dak, I think they should play him and showers, instead of getting a vet.
But the jones boys, evidently feel that neither of these 2 are capable of being a #2 bkup, so are looking for a vet to get.

So the problem is with the jones boys, who should just come out and say we are going with dak and showers as our bkups.
If they cant be a # 2 right now , I dont see why they are on the team.
Showers has some versatility , and plays ST, but dak why draft him if he cant be a # 2 this year ??

any vet will have to come in and learn offense, and wont be as mobile as our 2.

It's definitely amusing. We had two huge question marks heading into the off-season, backup QB and pass rush.

As of now, it's looking like both areas actually got worse.

Impressive.

Once again, the success of the Cowboys will hinge on Tony and the offense. At least he has a real offensive line this time around.

I actually think they should "stand pat" and go with the QBs they currently have on the roster and not force it or give up a draft pick, unless they secretly think the guy they trade for might have a decent chance of being Romo's successor. There is a chance Romo will be healthy all year. It would also help the new guys to mature and progress because of all the reps. Both Dak and Showers have potential and probably wouldn't be much of a drop off from someone we might trade for.

Also, if it is late in the year and we are contending for the playoffs, we could probably bring in an "ancient veteran" in the class of Favre or Kurt Warner and do just about as well.

You're entitled to your own opinion, however misinformed and idiotic it may be. A 4th round rookie QB from a Tim Tebow offense does not an immediate NFL backup QB make.

No offense, but this was the thinking that led us to Weeden, Cassell, Moore and 4-12 last year.

Find it amazing that we haven't played even a preseason game and already many "fans" have us in the tank and Romo going down. Lots of faith in our guys,NOT!. Why the love for Foles? He has only been successful under one coach who happens to coach Kansas City now. Why would anyone think he would be any better than the retreads last year? We did try to trade up and get a QB in the first but we didn't him the deal done. Guess I also have more faith after watching a few practices in Irving, Russell and Tapper along with Thornton and McClain than others but we should find out fairly soon like next week if it is misplaced faith. Someone please tell me what QB we could trade for would be a savior because there isn't one. And do we know we will have to give up a draft choice yet? Cleveland with McCown needs OL guys and bad. We happen to have an excellent back up in Leary that would immediately start for Cleveland. What if say Stephen made a trade with Cleveland and we give up Leary and Williams (two starters) for McCown and Gordon (backs although Gordon could maybe start) and say a conditional pick from the Browns, then what would everyone say. Things tend to change quickly in the NFL and not a game has been played yet. Amazing.

So if the team went out and signed a FA QB or drafted a QB high, and they broke their leg, wouldnt we be in the same situation as we are now?

The doom and gloom on this site right now

I say the ignorance of fans who have become okay with the circus, who don't care about winning, and are mostly Jones Brainwashed koolaid drinkers are far worse !!! For the most part, these are guys who were young kids or not born at all the last time we had a successful season...

I agree to disagree on this one.

1. Who's to say that Kellen Moore could not have been the backup. He actually looked pretty good against the Commanders and had other moments. Now I know the Skins sat players too but Moore had NOTHING TO WORK WITH on offense. The injury is unfortunate but it could have happened to a proven backup QB too and it still would have cost us.

2. The defensive line has two new draft picks that were early middle round selections. Collins and Tapper both look like players and could contribute very early.

3. The DBs already get a new corner and safety from last season. Both are major upgrades. OScan for Carr or Claiborne and Jones for Wilcox. Don't sleep on the 6th round corner too. He has size, speed and athleticism. Mo looks good so far and he wasn't as bad as everyone thinks last season.

4. I agree with you on Jaylen Smith pick. Should have taken Jack at least due to the 3 year window this team has if it even has that.

5. The front office did make the biggest move this offseason in the draft by selecting Elliott. It was the best pick this team has made in 25+ years. Adding him to the offense with our line can redefine our team. Ramsey would not have been able to do that.
