This TT infatuation is eerily similar to the Reshard Lee infatuation last year.

TT has shown more then Lee ever did. BUT he still has a lot to learn and then has to be able to be consistent and reliable. same for MB3.

TT has shown nothing, but he can run really fast.

Barber has shown he can catch, run, and block, Barber has shown more than TT,

All i give TT is speed everything else, he isnt anything speacial in.

JJ will play, Barber is still better, there is a reason he was drafted in the fourth round.

T2 puts pressure on the defense because they have to respect his speed-- this is the primary responsiblity of a running back. Blocking is the 2nd responsibility. Churning out 2.x yards per carry and chewing up clock is all fine and dandy if your defense is pitching a shutout and your passing game is smoking, but we all know that is not going to happen. Dallas must be aggressive and not just in the passing game.

Anyone with half a clue who watched that Giants game (or any other game this season) knows that seven guys can EASILY stop Barber and Thomas.

This is the game where we see the scheming designed to stop the pass and the run has to pick up the slack. Julius isn't going to play and if he is playing he's most likely going to hurt himself more and/or be much less effective. T2 proved against Philadelphia that he can move the chains when everyone knows he's getting the ball. It's night and day when compared with Barber/Thomas, really. :grrr:

I agree, and especially with the disruption on the line as Tucker gets up to par, and the loss of Crayton's blocking and receiving, and possibly Dan not being 100 percent, Bledsoe needs a tailback who has a chance to make teams scheme him. Whoever can contribute most to getting defenders off the QB's neck, I am for..and T2's acceleration looks like the best ticket.

I like what MB has shown so far but T2 can be a real difference maker, imo.

Now it he can't pick up a blitz, it's all for naught. But his 'three mental errors' in practice last Saturday doesn't negate what he did vs Phily.

Of course, any praise of TT is read in some quarters as a diss of JJ, our current lone feature back, so let me make the requisite disclaimer up front:

Julius still rules.

Goes without saying, LTN! We need that stud to get healthy for those brutal divisional games outdoors in the crappy weather in Washington, New York, and Philly where it gets dark by the time the 4th quarter looms and 300 yard passing games are distant fantasies. Seattle is a preview of those three divisional contests and I have the strongest feeling our defense and running game must rise to the occasion. If they can't meet this challenge then all the positive momentum of the last two weeks will be halted.

Some factual thought on RB this year

JJ 112 407 3.6 ypc
TT 34 127 3.7 ypc
AT 30 61 2.0 ypc
MB 13 31 2.4 ypc

We are 4-2 with pretty bad run production. Thats amazing.

Tham for reference is 536 2179 4.1 ypc. We should bring him back and praise our Olineman and goof on Tham!

Better yet - EG was 132 432 3.3 ypc - statistically on par with this years backs - LOL

I tip my hat to Bledsoe - we need a running game to show up soon.

What is nice about Barber and what Bill likes is that Barber is the best reciever out of the back field we have. Better than JJ.

That is certainly true.

Bill has mentioned several times he'd like some Richie Anderson style versatility on one or more of these guys.

The receiving aspect is Barber's edge right now..tho I think JJ is going to improve steadily in that area.

I think jj plays.

I just get the feeling that Parcells has already made up his mind to reincarnate Barber as Dave Meggett.

His 3rd down, punt returning, spot relief back of the future. I saw Barber's name among three returning punts this week, I wasn't surprised, and wouldn't be surprised if he's the guy on sunday running back punts, and he pretty much replaces tt and thomas the rest of the way.

I've been watching the NFL for 30 years. And one position in particular - tailback.

I happen to think this kid has got the goods. (And knew Lee didn't).

It doesn't spell 'infatuation'..it means after long years of watching burst, moves, vision, power, and speed, you feel confident to at least express your opinion when you think you see talent.

Time will tell! It would be great if we landed in UDFA that could push JJ or take his job.

I'm very skeptical - lets see him do this at a high level for a few games. Right now TT is what he is a 3.7 YPC back that has some issues on blitz pickup and the like that are limiting his field time.

Barber is a whole lot better than TT. all TT has going for him is his speed and if defenses do not let him get that speed up he is not running past anyone, he has no wiggle and his vision is not good.

Barber has proven he can rush for 2.X yards per carry. TT runs at a 4.X clip. And TT doesn't constantly get stuff trying to run along the LOS like Barber does. I like Barber, but I like Maroney better.

I know alot of people have a hard time understanding this, but Barber is better than Tyson Thompson...sorry to disappoint the cult like TT fan club, but its true

David

The one thing Thompson does add is a homerun threat, which is cool...I think the three of them together will add up to a great backfield someday, but I don't see why people keep wanting to replace all the starters with backups.

Barber was injured and a tad behind

TT - 3.7 YPC
MB - 2.4 YPC

Thats nors like rounding to 4 and 2! Just setting the record straight!

I'm sorry to see that you are agreeing with a guy who seems to think that all you need is speed, and that makes you a better RB than another guy.

I know the saying about speed, in football, it is not all one sided though, it can also hurt you. Randall Williams for example, he could not do anything but run, there has been alot of guys in football with a lot of speed but they could not do the other things that their position called for, and it hurt them and the team if the team relied on them to produce.

Speed without knowledge, and the ability to do more than just run, hurts the player and the team.

Straight ahead speed guys sometimes are the easiest to take out. They tend to run high and can't cut and lack vision.... JJ get well fast!

Emmitt was never a speed guy.
