We dont need a TE tho, maybe the worst move in a while by the Front office.Reminds me of the Mavs.
Why don't you wait and see what packages Garrett plans to use him in, and how he plays in general instead of writing him off as a waste before he gets to show what he can do?

If he turns out to be half as good a blocker/receiver as Witten, the Cowboys can morph a two TE single back power run formation into a four receiver set with an audible, it will be pretty hard to defend that with any base defense. Especially if they motion the back into the receiver mix.

Then you're going to feel dumb for jumping the gun eh? :zipit:

Absolutely Not

What might make him special is his ability to create mismatches.

I saw nearly every game, many in person, and he's a Tight End - NOT a Wide Reciever

And when T.O. went down like he does every single season we sucked and one and done in playoffs cause he was hurt.We shouldnt have to rely on T.O. so much I know he is great but man he is getting up there.

So which of these guys can replace TO's production?

Doucet-LSU
Manningham-Michigan
Caldwell-Florida
Douglas-Louisville

No it is not dire. We will be ok and furthermore no WR taken in the first round of this years draft would have made an impact.

Don't buy into the Martellus negativity and don't be surprised if he turns into a very good pro.

First round, second round, fifth round.

The fact we did not bother to take a stab at WR is a decision we will have to live or die with. I agree with Jerry Jones to a degree. We should not have been hellbent to acquire a receiver.

We looked long at hard at players like Sweed, James Hardy, Devin Thomas and Eddie Royal. We have flirted with the trade options.

To me, we just didn't add enough competition to the position this offseason. And no, I don't consider Danny Amendola part of that.

For all practical matters, a player like Josh Morgan would have been an excellent sixth round choice over Erik Walden, who I am completely unimpressed with.

That is not the issue.

Eventually a replacement for him would have to be made and it will probably come via trade or a very high draft choice in the next few years.

I think all of these players could threaten Crayton's position however.

Jukie is the one who stated getting a WR was a must since TO gets "hurt every year" He is the one stating we need one of these guys to replace TO when he gets hurt this year

and None of these guys would threaten Crayton in the slightest this year.

They would be fighting with Hurd and Stanback for for #4 or #5

I look at it a little bit differently. Getting a WR would have been a luxury on this team considering how well we performed last season offensively.

Don’t let the cat out of the bag but we have a very, very, very good team, probably the best since the early 90’s. This in my opinion puts us in a position where we could draft the best possible player, Bennett. Now next year with our number 1 WR getting another year older and depending on what Austin/Hurd/Stanback gives us I am sure we will address the WR position.

Apparently someone thought CC was talking about them.

CC never attacks anyone on this board and gets the more crap thrown at him than anyone I have seen .... all because he gives short replys in threads.

Classic attempt of diversion. When things are not going well for your argument you pull the "Hey look at the guy in the mask" routine.

Let's stay on point, which is no WR drafted in this year's draft could make the Cowboys a better team for this season.

Someone who is willing to wear a mask, which accurately and undeniably reflects his fanaticism for the Dallas Cowboys, should be unquestioned about his appearance on a Dallas Cowboys related message board, in my opinion. CrazyCowboy may be the biggest fan of the franchise on this board. I doubt there are many here who can equal his documented fanatic encounter with the owner and general manager of the Cowboys, can we?

which will be like 5 times remember this,He should have been a WR we didnt need a tight end.Dumb move IMO

Round 2 was the round for WRs this year and 10 of them were picked before the Cowboys' #61. My guess is that we may have taken guys like Limas Sweed, DeSean Jackson, Malcolm Kelly, Hardy, etc...if they had been there. Who knows.

I guess Earl Bennett, M Manningham, H Douglas, and Early Doucet were still there....so some could make an argument....espcially for Doucet. But it's water under the bridge at this point and MB could turn out to be great.
