Excessive Celebration

He entered the endzone standing, dropped the ball, then dropped to his knees. Yes, if the rule is black-and-white, where was the yellow here? Can't say an official didn't see him do it. IF the penalty is flagged equally and fairly across the league..fine, but obviously it is not.

ref obviously interpreted that as praying which for some weird reason is allowed

After hearing all week why Columbo was flagged for that penalty.

Can someone please explain to me why Peterson didn't get a penalty after scoring the 3rd TD for the Vikings and then going to both knees in the Endzone ?

I am just curious what kind of excuse the Refs will have this week ...
I immediately yelled at my TV that he was on his knees. Nobody should say he was praying, because he wasn't. He kneeled, put both arms in the air, and immediately got up.

But we were told that the rule is black-and-white, no room for common sense.

Two reasons.

Its not Dallas thats doing it.

Secondly, its too close of a game and thus they will only call it against Dallas if the game is close.

Penalty or not, Miles leap frog of RW was one of the coolest EZ celebrations I have ever seen, and to say that it was orchestrated is just plain stupid.

He was just happy that we had scored first in such a big game.

That was as spontaneous as it gets.

I'm sorry, I know I'm old school, but what the hell is this team celebrating for, particularly after what happened last week?

When everyone that posts here goes to work on time, do they high five everyone and jump around. Do you need to be lifted up by a 350 pound man or have someone jump over your head for sending an email?

This is there job, they were 1-3, they cost themselves a game by doing something stupid the week before and now you go and do it again (fair call or not?). Why take the risk?

Take the ball, give it to a fan or the ref or take it to the sideline, shut up, focus on the game again, and next time you line up against the other teams player, beat him again! Celebrate after you got the W.

How friggin hard is it to figure that out.

Yeah, I know this is going on everywhere, but we are too dumb or unlucky to do it right, so they should have stopped it and didn't.

I don't watch football to see guys celebrating in the endzone. Means VERY little to me. Sure as hell ain't worth 15 yard penalty EVER. The play is what is important. When I see that I think "Mentally Weak and DUMB" team.

that is old school

players jump around after a normal tackle now, it is what it is

hell our celebrations have nothing on Butch Johnson's.

I think MIles may have gotten away with the leap if he'd just left the area afterwards...the ref right there didn't reach for his flag, but then you had the stupidly contrived handshake after the celebration right in the ref's face.

I'd have thrown it too at that point....we have some really stupid players, and I don't blame the coach for that.

Micheal Irvin did a 30 second celebration routine after a 6 yard catch. Emmitt took his helmet off after every TD to mug for the cameras. Alvin Harper invented the dunking over the goalposts act. The Cowboy teams you all know and loved celebrated way more than this team ever has or will.

Agree on the stupid players,Wayne. I would throw some blame on the coaches, especially after last week. They had to know that the officials would be looking hard at them for this kind of crap, and went ahead anyway and,to my way of thinking, threw it in the refs face, ala "Oh yeah,we got called last week for falling down....well,we won't fall down this time,so just watch this!"
I would have hoped the coaches would have issued a warning after last weeks bs,and said "Your free to celebrate however you think is appropriate, but it's a large for every yard penalized!" This stupid, undisciplined crap has to stop.

I actually think that is against the CBA.

You and me both. The athleticism amazes me. If the refs had left it alone like they should've, we'd all be laughing and talking about what a great celebration that was. Oh well.

As far as the Cowboys celebrating, the rest of the league does so I don't have a problem with the Cowboys doing it. The problem is that the refs get pissed every time a Dallas Cowboy does something.

You may be right,SP,I don't know. But if the coaches can't legally do it,the old kangaroo court of players could sure as hell do something.

When I saw Miles effortlessly leapfrog Roy Williams I said, "that's incredible athleticism". Then I saw the flag and said "BS!". Then I watched the replay. I think Sam Hurd caused the penalty. It looked orchestrated, even though I don't think it was.

Again with the 90's teams. I loved the 90's teams, but that is a completely different situation. Emmitt was NOT a big celebrater. He was a lover of Walter Payton and respected his humility.
All that being said, those guys HAD SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE! End of story. This team hasn't accomplished jack squat yet, and look foolish for behaving like they've won the Super Bowl, let alone a game - they can shut it down until then as far as I'm concerned as a fan - does it really add that much to the fan's experience. I'd much rather have the W thanks.

You'd think that after last week, they'd just hand the ball to the refs and get ready for the next drive. I guess they didn't get much coaching on that this week.
