3 divisional winner would have the week off 3 non divisonal winners and division winner with worst record would be playing.

That still leaves an odd number of teams in the 2nd round. It would have to be only 1 team with a bye in round one. It definitely diminishes the value of the 2nd seed.

I'm still trying to do the math. Let's take 7 teams and call them A, B, C, D, E, F and G. And let's say A, B and C get the byes.

Round 1
D vs E (let's say D wins)
F vs G (F wins)

Round 2
D vs A (A wins)
F vs B (B wins)

Who does C play?

Your right the only way it works is if 1 gets the bye 2 through 7 have to play wild card weekend

Watering it down like the NBA playoffs. At least in the NBA, they play a series in the playoffs. This is terrible.

Goodell is trying to make good on the goal he set of increasing the revenue to $25 billion by 2027. Adding more games, playoff teams and expanding into global markets is how he has to make it happen. It's all about the money

So, league watered down by taking contact away and fashioning rule that make the passing game so one sided it makes all games - for the most party - track meets instead of real contests.

Now water down the play-offs with teams who will be at or below .500 - and that is coming with this new format - and what do you have?

Arena league football.

Didn't Jerry talk about this not that long ago? That he was in favor of expanding the playoffs. I think that is watering down the sport. 12 is perfect. 4 division winners and 2 wild cards. You are just diluting the regular season by adding more teams. Like the NBA regular season is a joke.

Couldn't agree mare and as one poster mentioned expansion to Canada as a Canadian i wouldn't want that. CFL is a great Canadian game that i hope is around for as long as i am or longer.

There were 12 playoff teams when there was only 28 teams. Only makes sence to add to the playoffs now that there are 32 teams. Bigger reward for the top seed as well.
