Couldn't agree mare and as one poster mentioned expansion to Canada as a Canadian i wouldn't want that. CFL is a great Canadian game that i hope is around for as long as i am or longer.

Yeah I don't think Canada needs a team just like I don't think Europe does. Although I guess I would not mind Canada getting one if they did. There's a team in Toronto in the NBA and MLB. I'm guessing if they ever move a team there, it will be them. They are very passionate about their teams. But no way does Europe need one. Goodell is trying to force the product over there too much in my eyes. NFL Europe failed. That will always be a soccer country without a doubt. I don't think a football team would last there long term.

I agree Spider, Europe doesnt need a NFL team, Canada maybe. If the league is going to expand more to more teams they should focus on the US and maybe Canada. Pushing for international teams wont work for the long run like NFL Europe

Letting the top 1/3 is about right. Less than that is exclusive except maybe baseball because their season is so long. More than that and the teams just getting in are likely to be one-and-done.

The level of football has sunk; blocking and tackling is pathetic on all too many teams. And they want to reward all this with more playoff teams.

Really sucks bad.

The only way I would be in favor of this would be if they also made it a rule that no non winning team can be in the playoffs. No matter if 7-9 or 8-8 leads that division that team still does not make the playoffs. If you end up with an odd number of teams then you adjust. But the greed of the owners will triumph over everything.

I like your idea. I think I'd just make it simpler and allow only the best teams in and forget about divisions other than for matchup sake.

I don't like the idea of more teams being in the crap shoot that is the single elimination tournament.

I want to watch the best teams play the best teams.

If it weren't for last year, we really haven't seen that in a while because of bad matchups/fluke performances, etc.

I mean, really... who thinks that the best team is winning every year anymore?

Looks like the NFL is close to "jumping the shark". Expansion teams, more playoff teams and more games.....I guess we will see how popular the league really is.

What is Goddell's motivation? The playoffs should be PRESTIGIOUS. Why lessen the standard it takes to reach them?

Also, what's the deal with the London team? They should NOT have a team that uses AMERICAN -BORN AND BRED players. Let them only compete using Brits and Euros

did it lesson the prestige when they went from 1 wildcard to 2? Nope

Yep. Although, I think we are tapped out in the US markets, which is why he is now focusing on other countries. I honestly don't think there should be expansion at all. There is enough teams. Maybe too many if you ask some. Move Jacksonville somewhere if you want. They are a waste of space down there. They hardly sell out half their stadium.

2012 Ravens played in wild card game, best team?
2011 Giants played in wild card game. best team?
2010 Packers played in wild card game, best team?
2009 Cardinals played in wild card game, best team?
2008 Giants were a wildcard team, best team?

get the picture? rarely do the best teams in the nfl win the superbowl. Any sunday any given team can win.

Ok but there is a line drawn somewhere. 1 to 2 is fine. But 2 to 3 is now pushing it. That's just one less team than there is division winners. That kind of demeans winning the division now that there is yet another extra wild card.

I think the season is long enough to where 6 teams is plenty per conference. And if you get stuck in a tough division like the Cardinals, oh well. Maybe try and win a few more divisional games to secure your spot. This isn't pee wee football where everyone needs a trophy. That's how the NBA is with over half of their teams getting in the playoffs.

And I'm sure 15 years down the line, we will add yet another team.

Yeah... that's what I just said.

I said I WANT to see the best teams win it; adding teams is going in the opposite direction of what I want.

This is what parity has done. Teams falling just short of the playoffs [as we know this all too well], no problem, we can make the fans happy, add playoff teams.
6-10 SB winner, here we come......

No it's all about $$$.

Parity has nothing to do with it. They might mask it as that though.
