Explain this to me....why bring Orton back?

If you go with Romo, may as well go with Orton. If Romo goes down, Orton can keep the train going. If you change out Romo, then there's no need for Orton, and those other guys are just bodies.

I will be surprised if the Cowboys don't keep Weedon. Both he and Orton rate as exceptional backups but Weedon has much bigger upside at a much bigger discount as well.

If they do draft a QB at some point, what is the cap hit to cut Orton?

Can't we save 3-4 million if we cut Orton?

At this stage of this franchise if Romo gets hurt then I rather this team suck and get a top pick next yr than to be average (already there) to below average and getting a 10-20 pick again.

Keep Weedon and pick a QB in the draft to develop. If Romo goes down then fine....rebuild with a high draft pick. Stop kidding ourselves with Orton will step in and save the season bullcrap!

They have that option all the way up until the 1st game of the season. Cutting him then saves the same amount as cutting him now.

Teams look at the situation where the starting QB goes out for a game or two, not the "what if" in terms of the starter being out all season.

Some keep bringing up the if Romo goes down scenario. IF he does go down, whos to say its for the whole season? It is possible for guys to go down be out for a few weeks and come back. After Romo Orton gives this team the best chance to win right now, bottom line. If Romo goes down in week 3 with a four week injury the quality of your backup QB could be the difference in making the post season or not. The idea of tanking for a better draft pick is ridiculous, and would be embarrassing to the team and the league.

HomeNY Giants, Philadelphia, Washington, Arizona, San Francisco, Houston, Indianapolis,
New Orleans
AwayNY Giants, Philadelphia, Washington, St. Louis, Seattle, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Chicago

With this schedule of opponents we'll be hard pressed to get to .500 in 2014. Weeden is an experienced backup that costs a lot less than Orton, you keep an Orton if you're the Saints or Denver but not the 2014 Cowboys.

7-1 home 3-5 away Lets add that up. Now I answered your prayer. :D

Bull....This is the 21st century NFL, you cant simply look at the strength of schedule and say hope is lost. Two years ago Arizona was terrible, and Houston was among the best. This past year they were the exact opposite of their 2012 form. Teams rise and fall all the time.

Where are you getting the 7 wins from?

Lets say we split the East that's 3 wins at home, home against Arizona, SF, Indy, NO, Houston, that's 3 playoff teams and 1 that's 1 year removed from 3 playoffs years in a row and another (Cards) that won 10 games in the toughest division in football. With our record against teams with winning records I'd say we go 1-4 in those leaving our home record at 4-4

Road record, we lose to the East, we should beat the Jags, the Titans and Rams will be a toss up and the Seahawks, and Bears are most likely losses. Road record at 2-6.

Let's just forfeit the season.

If this Draft Grades out an A across the drafting table, people... especially fans, will be seeing a different shade...Scott McClay brings that possibility to light.
