FEATURED FA agent thread

Watch us lose all three safeties! Why are they waiting until next week on the hurt ones?

Is this directed at me?

No, just commentary in general. Often times people will downplay a FA we don’t get by pointing out he wasn’t wanted by his old team, or only a couple teams apparently wanted him, or for what he signed for.

But then they will turn around and praise a move like Urban for being shrewd despite the Bears apparently not wanting him, he didn’t have a lot of suitors and he signed for a tiny amount.

Watch how many will praise the signing of Hooker or Kazee despite the fact they will sign for cheap most likely and neither of their current teams wants them.

Apparently the logic only applies to guys that sign elsewhere.

Exactly, when we get all bent out of shape, keep in mind that every team other than the team that signs a player said he wasn't worth worth a penny more than he signed.
To me Anthony Harris is a one year player. 2019 was awesome but every other year of his career very poor. Other than 2019 he doesn't make any plays.

He was very good in 2018 too. His 2020 season wasn’t great but still better than the safety play we got.

All fine if Quinn is driving the recent additions.

In fact I truly HOPE that's the case and Jerry and Stephen aren't throwing darts.

I dont at all want Quinn in the war room though doing a Marinelli dance.
Me neither, but they have always given their coaches power in the draft room. MM is a big proponent of letting the scouts find the players and have the coaches, coach. His first draft was pretty good.

I think Harris benefited from a good Vikings pass rush and suffered in 2020 when he had to, you know, cover.
The Cowboys pass rush has been less than impressive for the last 8 years so perhaps, Harris isn't an improvement in Dallas.

Honestly very little that is done in this tier of FA is shrewed. Granted you can say that about FA in general, but sometimes you have to be willing to over pay a bit for quality. You cant be afraid of a Brandon Carr. You sign guys like Clinton Dix, and you can easily end up starting Darien Thompson

As it should be.

Again, with the pro guys, especially in a new system....sure. War room? Not so much.

Hopefully lesson learned. Every position coach is of course gonna lobby and Jerry's opinion by committee is a concern.

I think by the time of the Urban signing, people were desperate for something good to say.

The way I interpreted things around here was that Watkins was awful and Urban was solid.

I'm not at all sure why that may be.

I'm just hoping these were guys that Quinn had his eye on and thinks he can put together a unit that plays cohesively by adding them to what we currently have.

I hate to take the bait again, but its not like I can go root for another team, so hope is what we have.

Hey let's face it, many times this team has been overhyped by fans and talking heads because it looked great on paper, but turned in a serious underachievement of a season.

Maybe the opposite applies, I dont know.

The only thing I truly believe is that the year I finally am fully fed up and turn my back is the same year they put it all together.....and all just to spite me lol.

Urban's $1.75 salary is guaranteed, while Watkins got a $400K signing bonus and has to make the team to get the total $1.75 million. Urban is a top run stopper while Watkins is more of a flyer on a guy who might fit better in this system.

They won't lose all three now that its out there.

Hopefully they get two, but I think one of Kazee/Hooker is a lock.

We've done it before. I do expect us to sign at least one of them, though.

If their medicals look good, I think they sign them both. Possibly all three if Neal wants to join them.

It would be good. Gives us some depth to cover for any injury trouble with their injury histories. Of course, our luck is injuries would wipe out all three of them.

I say luck, but, of course, some of that is you get what you pay for.

We need DL/Defensive help bad. And the rams traded michael brockers for a 2023 7th rounder. Are you kidding me. He had 5 sacks last year and was productive. Heck I wouldn't even be made if they said we gave up a 5th for him lol.

I hear ya but the 5th round is a primo spot to "steal" players only to deactivate them for most of the season.

a 5th for a starting player in this league? I’ll do that every damn time. Take a look at the return rate for 5ths with us, let alone 7th haha.
