Anyone who expected Gallimore to be on the bench wasn’t paying attention......Hill is another deal but if Jerry has his way he too will be starting. In case everyone has forgotten
We still need 2 starting DTs folks
without those all this stuff is just fluff
Yeah that’s what I was gonna say. When they re-signed Lewis that told me they are going to fill the rest with draft picks. Diggs, Lewis, Brown, Canady, Savion Smith, Reggie and Rashaad Robinson.....i think this may be it aside from draft picks....I want Jackson, Sherman or Hayward as a starting corner. If we don't get one of them, then I have to believe we're committed to drafting a corner in the first round.
Good point I forgot Edwards was here.We also got to remember we have his former DC Edwards on our staff, he would of known everything about the player and we still passed, which is telling.

What do you have against Kyle Fuller?I want Jackson, Sherman or Hayward as a starting corner. If we don't get one of them, then I have to believe we're committed to drafting a corner in the first round.

I agree. Would be awesome to get Hooker and Kazee at S, convert Neal to LBer. All should be somewhat reasonable considering their injury concerns. Give them all 1-2 year, incentive based deals that compensate them fairly for their production.
Adding those 3 guys would significantly shift the draft and create some flexibility. We still need to add CB talent— and we should go there early— but overall, adding some help at S will go a long way towards stabilizing the secondary— as Diggs, Brown, and Lewis are all competent CBs.
Here’s to hoping the FO rolls the dice and decides to throw talent (albeit coming off injury) and numbers at a significant position of weakness on this roster

Cap update:
According to Over the Cap, we're at $11.6 million, but I don't see Basham listed among their numbers, which would include money that we need for signing our draft picks. However, the rule of 51 will take care of a lot of that.
We also need to remember the rule of 51 concerning any player that we sign. For instance, when we signed Urban for $1.75 million, then Hunter Neiswander became the 52nd-highest paid player at $780,000. So Urban counts a little less than a million toward the cap.
So our cap amount can easily account for signing a few more players at $2 million to $3 million, plus the draft picks (for which we need about $5.5 million to $6 million). However, if we wanted to make a bigger signing, we would need to restructure either Lawrence's or Cooper's contract.
Not denying any of that but understanding how this organization is ran and where they choose to put their resources....I have a strong feeling Gallimore will be a starter next year.He will have to make a pretty big leap to be what we need at 3-tech. He flashed at times when he was forced into the starting role, but he also was part of the DT group that struggled to stop the run or put pressure on the quarterback.
The 3-tech is the bell cow of this defensive alignment. Gallimore wasn't up to the level that you need starting there and may never be.
I may be off on how much the draft picks will cost. Some are saying around $4 million or less. So that would give us $7.6 million before another restructure would be needed (minus Basham's first year for which I can't find a number).
