It's this kind of continued disrespect that makes me cringe at "fan" ignorance. If Dak had been playing on those down years he wouldn't be enjoying the fawning and adulation he's getting now.

If you think you pull your future QB while playing lights out to insert your old inconsistent injury prone QB simply because you are paying him $20 million a year, then you are the one suffering from fan ignorance. Dak doesn't struggle when he loses his LT or #1 WR. He adapts and still wins. He has earned the right to keep the job until he falters. If that happens, let Romo come to the rescue. If not, great, the new era will have begun earlier than expected. Dak is proving we don't need Romo anymore to be a winning team. What we do need are his cap dollars to build the defense. Inserting him back into the lineup without it being necessary just prolongs his bloated salary staying on the books.

Why are you leaving out his rushing TD's? Passing TD's or rushing TD's count for the exact same amount of points. They are still TD's scored by the QB.

Also, why did you fail to mention where he ranks in QB rating?

I don't count the rushing TDs, because we could have just as easily run it with Elliott. You can count them if you want, but you don't get those touchdowns from 20-30 yards out. As soon as we start playing playoff teams, you'll need a QB who can score in the air and quickly.

Dak is 21st in the league in passing yards per game, 7th in yards per attempt, and has a whopping 4 passing touchdowns in 5 games... 29th in the league...

Dak is improving each week. Of course he doesn't know the entire playbook as Romo. Isn't taking chances downfield, coaches have a gameplan for Dak and he is following it with 69% completions. Dak will keep learning and keep getting better.

Is Romo at that level? Last year, when healthy, he wasn't that Romo. That was two broken collarbones and a broken back ago.

Who knows? If he is, then he certainly has shown what he can do with this kind of offense.

However, so far, Prescott also is showing what he can do with this kind of offense.

To me, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. My belief is between the two we've got a great chance of making some noise if the defense can hold up. No other team can say it has a near-MVP waiting in the wings while a rookie QB leads the team to 4-1 while setting records in the process.

I'm really have trouble understanding why we're debating our QB situation instead of being grateful for it.

He left those out because it doesn't help his agenda. Same reason why he left out his number of interceptions.

What happened in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015? Why should 2014 and only 2014 be looked at to say Romo should get his job back? Romo has had a decade and we have nothing to show for it. ............!
Well, I guess if you wish to include everything.....add up all of his years from 2006 thru 2015 and you get the 3rd highest rated passer in NFL history.

hey, if they want to keep Dak in there I'll be pulling for him in a big way.
But those thinking Romo has been a the problem are off-base.

You can't possibly think a QB running for a TD and a RB doing so are the same thing or formulate the same way.

Sorry, you already staked your ignorant ground when you disrespected Romo's career. You want to compare Dak adapting to changes to the OL or WR that have resulted in zero drop off to all those years Romo adapted to having no protection and no running game? Please! Romo is and was the king of adapting to all the crap around him. Good grief.

Wow, he doesn't rank super high in total passing yards, which is borderline irrelevant, on a running team, as a rookie. The guy is still on pace for a 4k yard passing season regardless.

What matters are how many times the guy puts points on the board, his efficiency, and not turning the ball over. All of which the guy is flourishing in.

1) I don't know what Romo's future is but I can predict one thing with accuracy. Romo will never play in a preseason game ever. And all starting vet QBs have taken notice. Nothing good can come out of a starting vet QB playing in a preseason game.

2) Not good when you make $20M/yr (roughly 1/7th the total cap) and you can't stay healthy. Very bad if the guy who replaced you actually plays better AND makes approximately 1/40th the salary. Although, it helps when your boss doesn't care about money and likes you.

And completing 69%. Romo would most likely be lower than that and have an int or 2.

In 2014, which is the closest thing we've got to matching this offense, Romo completed 69.9 percent of his passes with 34 TDs and 9 ints. with a 113.2 QB rating. He had seven games where he completed more than 70 percent of his passes, including 90 percent against Indy and 80.8 against Chicago. Three of his interceptions came in the first game when he was struggling to come back from back surgery.

No matter if Prescott or Romo ends up ultimately being the starter, we've got two QBs who have shown they can have success with a run-powered offense. Romo has shown he can have success without that as well, but we need to focus on what we are.

There are still questions to be answered about both QBs, but I like our chances of succeeding with either at this point. As the season develops, we might see Prescott take a step back or even take a step forward. As the season develops, we might see Romo take a step back healthwise or take a step forward. The good news is that it's not likely that both take a step back and we will benefit from that.

That's the speculative point that is misconstrued as fact. It was two years ago which is a long time in this sport and at an age when abilities fall off rapidly.

Do people actually believe Romo, who at the end of his career, is going to turn into Tom Brady and become clutch in must win games after failing to do so for 10 YEARS? Thats pure delusion.

I agree.
Besides having a dominant defense--which helps the most--having a strong run game really makes life easier.
I think Romo has had a good defense 2-3 times
I also think he's had a good run game at least 3 years.

Not shockingly, I think any year he's had one or the other they have made the playoffs.

2007 they even had both at the same time. Imagine that.
Just wasn't meant to be that year. Even the undefeated Patriots didn't win it.

I haven't forgotten 2014. It was a great season that was a lot of fun to witness. I believe Tony was the NFL MVP that year and Demarco could have been second in voting. They were that good. It doesn't mean anything right now though. Are you a Romo fan or a Cowboys fan? The best thing for this team and beyond is letting Dak play.

Not sure how anyone could possibly compare Romo to Prescott. It's night and day right now. Will this kid continue to improve? Absolutely. Is he at Romo's level? Not even close. When Romo returns, the offense will open up, we'll be able to pass down field, and Elliott's production will increase even more.

Stunning how short people's memory's are and the media certainly doesn't want to help.

Its not that simple really. Its not night and day. Both Romo and Prescott have their strengths and weaknesses.

Prescott's mobility and his ability to run screens, play actions, and bootlegs is what makes him so deadly against defenses. Plus you can't ignore the fact he has a high completion rating and doesn't hurt you with INTs.

Romo does have big play capabilities more than Prescott and knows this offense well. However, he can also hurt you with those unwanted INTs and mistakes.

Both have their strength and weaknesses. I however, want Prescott. Don't fix what isn't broken. Leave him in until he starts to make mistakes and lose games for us. Prescott hasn't done anything wrong to warrant being on the bench. Its just not the right thing to do.
