Fat, out of shape, lazy, uncommitted, and absent, such is Rolando McClain

His contract is actually in the Cowboys' favor from what I saw at overthecap. Only $500K guaranteed. $2M roster bonus. $1.25M salary.

I'm not going to get worried over a player with min guaranteed money and an incentive-laden contract. It would not surprise me if Rolando McClain retires. Or if the Cowboys cut him early in camp.

If he shows up and wants to play, great. If not, only lost $500K and didn't waste a camp spot on him. Let some other player get the reps.

Is he good enough to get to live by a different set of rules than everybody else?

He's missing optional workouts. I think he should be here too, but if the NFL wanted to make these workouts mandatory, they should have negotiated that.

personally i like Hitchens, and if this guy doesn't get in shape before the regular season, i have no problem with Hitchens playing MLB.

Amen...Ro is too much trouble IMO. I'd say cut him soon if he doesn't get with the program. Smith will (hopefully be ready by '17 too) Hitchens can hold it down in '16 until Smitty is ready.

I think if they cut him over not showing up for "voluntary" workouts then the nflpa will file a grievance and they might end up paying anyway.

If Ro was a quality off field player we would have never gotten him here to start with. The fact that he is a screw up, but a relatively manageable one, off the field made him available. His play is worth way more then the deal we gave him. His practice habits and off season habits would get him run out of the NFL if it wasn't for a ton of god given talent. He's someone you use until you get a nearly equivalent but more reliable option. Hopefully that will be Jaylon Smith. But for this year no we don't have an option close to as useful as an engaged Ro as a MLB.

Im tired of him. He got his chance, showed up for awhile , to get paid, then went back into whatever he does.

Were trying to win championships here, were trying to change a culture......we were 4-12 last year. The water boy should be scared of losing his job.

Let him go....

Don't let your spite (which I fully understand) get in the way of the team's best interests. Yes, Ro will be out of shape at the start of the season. Yes, Ro will need a few games to get up to game speed. And yes, when he does reach that level, he is an absolute enforcer on the field and gives this defense an edge, which will serve them well later in the season.

The only problem with this blue and white glasses induced look at Ro McClain is the part about him then being a terror on the field.

The same thing happened last year and he was decent, not an "absolute enforcer". So you are likely overstating just how good he is.

I can live with him because frankly we don't have a lot of options, but I won't delude myself into thinking that McClain is some misunderstood superstar that we just have to live with a few growing pains.

When Jaylon Smith is 100% McClain will be gone. He was drafted to man the Mike position in Dallas.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Given her take on the matter, I don't really consider her opinion to be worthy of much.

When people are repeatedly doing the same things over and over, routinely get in trouble and are involved in shady things over and over, it becomes clear that they aren't isolated incidents.
...and given your tendency to call people out of their name ..... your opinion is what it is.

How do you know it's not a family emergency beyond his control. They are not obligated to tell the public any reasons as to why they are missing. Nor should they be.
Yep. We shall see. Ain't nothing we can do about it but listen to the whining and crying from the usual suspects. Its the same song different year from all parties involved. I don't get caught up in those games. It's so futile.
