Favorite Chain Steak Houses

Saltgrass, Stoney River and Capital Grille.
Saltgrass drives me crazy in that they put butter on their steaks. A good steak does not need butter. I have never tried Stoney River or Capital Grille since they do not have them in the Beaumont area and I have never run across one while traveling. There is a place in Beaumont that makes a really good steak but it is a one off restaurant called Jerry Nelson's Hill Country.

When you go ask if Ozzie and Harriet were once the proprietors.

Chain steak houses aren’t really my forte, but I did go to this one place years ago called “Tahoe Joe’s” and was highly impressed and surprised by the steak I ordered. Now if I’m reeeeeealy craving a good piece of meat...I go to “Harris Ranch”. Can’t get any fresher than that.

I loved Steak & Ale, that cheese for the break was top notch. Gallagher's was also a great place known for Prime Rib.

Among others gotta put in my vote for Steak & Ale, the food was wonderful and the salad bar was amazing. My wife and I were just lamenting how we miss Steak & Ale the other day. At least here in OKC at one time I believe there were 3 locations, it was always something to look forward to.

Hope so, be worth the 3 hour drive.

Before my current job, I spent years(a lot) in the restaurant industry from the floor to kitchen to management. I worked as a corporate server for Landry's Inc and was responsible for training staff from the Aquarium to Morton's Steakhouse and anything in between. I have vast amounts of experience there....

Anyways, the wife and I will open our own place soon(retirement package) and I am thinking about throwing my hat in the ring for a S&A franchise. We have been discussing our own concept but this steak house will bring customers in droves. I am not sure what the right move is just yet either.

I know location is 60% of it and that is our initial problem. I already have most of the kitchen appliances in storage just waiting for the right opportunity

That sounds awesome, wish you the best of luck.

Small world!!! Yeah, this place is going crazy right now. The secret got out. Boise has been on every top 10 list you can think of and the Californians are coming up here in the droves. The irony being that all these people are going to drive out the qualities that make this city great right now. Oh well, what can you do? Anyways, that is funny. Eagle is a nice place. That is where all the money lives. ;)
man that EAGLE Rd. exit/ overpass is jammed bumper to bumper during rush hour in the am/ pm,,,,I used to drink a little and eat a lot,,,er,,,or was that the other way around,,,,,, at "The Curb",,(next exit north past eagle), I recall watching that classic stiff-arm #82 laid down on that cincey DB back in '16' in that jointo_O

I've never been a fan of Saltgrass. They were always way down on the totem pole for me. (in the completely avoid area) They came off more like fast food steakhouse. (like a McDonalds for steaks.)

Yeah, my ex-wife loved the place. (Bennigans) She was crushed when the one near us closed several years ago.
They started up as a Friday's alternative and made a little progress but the consistency was not good. And Friday's didn't roll over for them.

The original Chili's started up as an alternative to The Filling Station and both had great burgers back when they could cook them less than medium. Those were the first burger joints we had to wait an hour+ but there were no other like them.

I could give up most beef if I had to but not burgers. A great burger is the perfect food and I crave that more than any cut of beef. There is an art to forming the patty just right and not packing in the meat to tightly. And I am an equal opportunity burgermeister, grilled or flat topped and I have a bud in Dallas that blackens burgers in a cast iron skillet in his oven and that's outstanding. I haven't tried one yet but the brisket burger smoked and grilled sounds good but it's a lot of work to do it right.

We could all be only 2 degrees of separation, what's your Mom's maiden name?

The coolest thing about Eagle was the location. Make a left and a right and we'd be on the Payette and that was about as good as it gets. Do they still have the world's largest mountain oyster festival in Eagle? I had to do a judging my first year there from the media panel. Not something I would do again.

Mom's maiden name was Ciavarella. All of my mom's family was from Florida and Texas (that's where I got my Cowboys fandom). Also, yes, they still do have the Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed. I have never gone to one but I hear it's quite the deal for some people, who are into that kind of thing. The great outdoors are definitely in Boise's backyard. With so many people moving into the valley lately though, it's getting crowded in the mountains. I drove to McCall last 4th of July weekend and the traffic going up was insane.
