Favorite cut of Steak.

There's a Flemings' here in Atlanta too. I hate that place. If I am going to pay a crapton of money for a steak, ill go to someplace really exclusive and fancy like Bone's, instead of paying fancy and exclusive prices for a not fancy and exclusive meal.

I prefer the steakhouse around the corner from my house. Local, good, and moderately priced.
I eat at a lot of steakhouses. A lot. For my own health, I really need to cut it back.

Fleming's is expensive. But their ribeye is consistently some of the best tasting steaks I've eaten.

In my experience, steak is one of those things where you tend to get what you pay for. There are exceptions, but that's my general rule.

Pretty much anything on this page.

Oh man, I hate the private parties at a nice place with pre-set menus. I just want to pull out some cash and say screw it, give me what I want. I haven't been to a Kirby's. Just never had the opportunity I guess. They have a Fleming's in the Woodlands. The one in Houston is my favorite steak joint. Well, there and Bob's in Dallas because at Bob's I can go there in jeans and a t-shirt if I feel like it.

We've got a Kirby's right down the road from where I work. Sadly, haven't made it over there yet.

There is NO doubt that you get what you pay for in a steakhouse. The Mom and Pop joint around the corner aren't going to be carrying the same quality meats as Fleming's, Bohanan's, Ruth's, etc. I got in this same discussion with someone on FB about Saltgrass being the end-all of steakhouses. I laughed at that notion.

I absolutely love steak.

PORTERHOUSE for me. Add a bleu cheese salad, baked potato, and some green beans and you've got my all-time favorite meal.

Speaking of blue cheese (actually Gorgonzola) I had a steak on Greenwich Ave one time that came with Gorgonzola cooked on it. I wasn't sure what I was going to think about that since I don't put anything on my steaks (meaning stuff like steak sauce), but it ended up being really good. If you have to put something on your steak to make it taste better, then it's a piss poor steak.

Has anyone else had a steak that had Gorgonzola on it?

Steaks/Beef Cuts that suck no matter what:
- Sirloin
- Chuck
- Eye Round

I guess you've never had a mouth-watering pot-roast.

No, but I have had partially melted bleu cheese on a steak. You can't have too much because the flavor is so strong that you may not be able to truly savor the steak.

Give me my T-Bone and give it to me Medium Well.

Anything less and you might as well not eat steak.

:D

I have and I love it. It was smothered with mushrooms and onions as well. I also love to season any steak with montreal seasoning. It's great. Of course, there's nothing wrong with just sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper either. Man I'm hungry. :D

Yes...blue cheese and goat cheese as well. All very good IMO.

I usually agree with you about sauces and additions to a steak, but every once in a while, topping a nice cut with cheese is a perfect compliment to the meat.

The only time I use steak sauces and such is when I'm at a picnic or a friends house and they're preparing sirloins or another lesser cut.

Sauces on ribeyes, t-bones, porterhouses, strips, filets....should be kept to a minimum if used at all IMO. Sometimes a good red wine reduction hits the spot though.....

I disagree on both accounts. There's so many good cuts of steak, why limit yourself to just t-bones? And medium well? Just once try it medium, or better yet, medium rare. It melts in your mouth.:)

Yeah, sometimes I bury my steak in sauteed onions too. I have some NY strips at home. I think I'm going to pick up some Gorgonzola for them and saute up some onions tonight.

btw, there is a "Feista" seasoning that is really good too. I have my sister ship up a few every year cause they don't sell it here. The down side is it has monosodium glutamate in it. But it's DAMN good! :)

I was talking about how it is cooked...I love all steaks...and eat them all...just like T-Bone the best.

I would apologize to the waiter if you were with me at a restaurant and ordered your steak any less than medium well.

Why? Explain your problem with medium or medium rare and why it should be taken as offensive by those who didn't order it?

I would apologize to the waitress that you were wearing an Ohio State sweater in public. WE ARE PENN STATE! ;)

I'm telling you man, medium rare is outstanding. Nice crust on the outside, pink on the inside.
