No, he wants to play for a team that has a chance of making the playoffs. He is not going to go to a pathetic team to get his head beaten in simply to play.

Yes, that is what some in the media would like you to believe, but c'mon, that's just not reality. He holds all the cards, that's all there is to it. If he actually agrees to play for the Jets, Bucs, or some other worthless team, he is a total chump.

I think Brett understand the Vikes would be a good fit but given the fact they could be looking at Tampering charges Minn may not even try to cut a deal for Brett at this point. In the end if Brett wants to play he very well may have to go to a team like the Jets. He has a choice to play or not to play that is his question to answer. If you think he holds all the cards, I think you are dead wrong

Cowboys2233 is pretty much right. The Packers won't be able to trade him to a team he doesnt want to play for. Then the Packers either have the option to release him or keep him.

Favre doesn't have an OFFICIAL no-trade clause but he has his own unique one. Check out the article written by Adam Schefter...

http://www.nfl.com/news/story;jsessionid=816B93043A2AC48C9FDCEC1550D21E55?campaign=ec0005&template=with-video&confirm=true&id=09000d5d8094bd7a

From the article above:

A rare talent, Packers quarterback Brett Favre now holds a rare distinction.

Without having an official no-trade clause in his contract, Favre has an unofficial no-trade clause in the leverage he has.

If the Packers agree to trade Favre to any team, the quarterback can veto the deal simply by declining to report. Then Favre's rights would revert back to Green Bay, which would be forced to take him back along with his $12 million base salary -- or release him.

To carry's Favre salary, and all the distractions that came along with it, would be an enormous financial and emotional burden for the Packers. Thus Green Bay would have to commit to keeping Favre or to trade him.

But unless it is a team that appeals to Favre then the Packers quarterback can continue vetoing deals until he has a satisfactory new home.

Basically, if Favre unretires he gets to play where he wants.

Think about what? Either they trade him to a team he wants to go to (because he has veto power), they pay him $12 million to sit on the bench and play mindgames with Rodgers, or they release him.

Again, why am I supposed to believe that Favre is simply going to agree to go to a team he doesn't want to go to?

Well according to Cheif and Thumper he would not veto all trades because that would hurt his media image that he has worked so hard to manipulate over his career.

yeah i understand all that i was just saying my point is this:
Neither Favre nor his agent, Bus Cook, has revealed which teams, or team, that would be, though speculation has swirled around Minnesota and Carolina. Yet it is as inconceivable to think Green Bay would trade Favre in its division as it is that it would release him, giving him the same option.:D

Yeah I know what your saying. I'd say if the Packers can't find a suitor in the AFC or outside of its division, they will just pay him the 12 million and sit him on the bench.

Panthers already said they don't really want him. So the best guesses are the Bucs or Jets.

Oh, well as long as Chief and Thumper say that, it must be true. :LOL

He won't veto all trades, just trades that don't send him to the Vikings. :LOL

I guess he could possibly agree to play for the Bucs, but only if he is actually delusional enough to think they have a shot of making the playoffs.

But again, he holds all the cards. If he really wants to play for the Vikings, he can veto everything and force the Pack to keep him, pay him $12 million and sit on the bench. Is that really an option? No way.

Dude, the Bucs made the playoffs LAST YEAR with JEFF GARCIA at the helm. Their defense is very solid, they have decent enough WRs and also have a decent running game. No they aren't really contenders but they are VERY capable of making the playoffs. Favre will upgrade the QB position and just makes the team better.

Finally! At least that is one possible solution. But is that really better than actually trading him to the Vikings and getting a pretty high draft choice (possibly even a #1) out of the deal? IMO, no way.

Yup but they could also choose to "Keyshawn" him like the Bucs did. Pay him and ban him from practices and all that stuff so he doesn't cause distractions to the team.

But some team will take a shot on Favre.

I believe the NFL won't let a team do that anymore.

Only the Redkins would trade a #1 for Favre :laugh2:

Best the Packers would get is a #3, he isn't really committed and only has a few years left, this sounds Jason Tayloresque.
