Why did Felix Jones watch the whole first half?

I decided to focus on this mystery during postgame access instead of investigating the great Governor's Cup referee conspiracy.
Felix Jones, who showed flashes of brilliance during the first two preseason games, didn't do anything wrong to get benched for the first half. The official explanation was that Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett and Co. just wanted to make sure Marion "The Barbarian" Barber got some work.
"We wanted Marion to play and make sure he got some touches," Garrett said. "We wanted to make it feel like a regular game for him."
Well, mission accomplished on getting Barber the ball. He had 13 carries for 75 yards and a TD and two catches for nine yards, playing a major role in the Cowboys racking up 20 points in the first half.
But a regular game? Whoa, podnah!! Does that mean there will be 30-minute stretches with the first-round RB watching during the regular season?
"I don't know about that," said Phillips, who talked this week about Felix perhaps being too valuable to use on kickoff returns.
Felix failed to get in any sort of rhythm in the second half. He had five carries for 10 yards (and a fumble in the red zone) and two catches for 4 yards.
It was a far cry from his first two preseason performances, when he had four gains of double-digit yardage on 12 touches. But give the kid credit for having a good attitude.
"The coaches did mention that the first team was going to get a lot more playing time this game," he said when asked if he had any warning that he would watch the first half. "I got a lot of mental reps out of it. I wasn't really too upset over it over it. I was kind of excited for the guys out there moving the ball up and down the field."
