The regular season can't get here fast enough.
The truth is that I didn't see enough of Julius Jones before he was drafted. As a Cowboy, he constantly tantalized me with the potential I saw early on, but that's all I had to go on. Unfortunately, in my opinion, his potential got used up. Fast.
I'm not a Razorback fan, but I had already seen more than enough of Felix Jones while he was at Arkansas. There may not have been another running back in last April's draft who had the potential to match the role which Garrett plans for him within this offense.
That role during running plays will consist primarily of off-tackle and sweep plays. If you don't want to be disappointed from the get go, you may as well prepare yourself for it. Barber will be receiving the lion's share of between the tackle runs. Probably 25% - 50% of Jones' touches each game will come through pass plays.
That's all you're going to see of Jones. Choice is a very talented back who will definitely see the field, but unless Barber (or to a lesser extent, Jones) is hurt, you're not going to see very much of him in this offense. Barber will continue to punish the interior front seven of the defense and Jones will be asked to utilize his speed create mismatches on the outside.
If this is not what you're expecting, get ready because it'll probably be a very long season for you. As long as both Barber and Jones are healthy, I think that, by season's end, everyone will finally have a clue as to whom Felix Jones really is--namely, he ain't no Julius.
