I dunno guys, at least we still have Ray Lewis's brother? He had a couple good runs against Denver's third stringers, ya know.

I guess pass protection means nothing to you. It means something to me and he was good at it tonight.

Not every run is going to be a big one. And here is a tip. he will be put in positions to succeed. So dont go getting down on the guy because he couldnt make a 50 yard run out of a doomed hb trap play in the preseason.

So did we just use a first round pick on Lincoln Coleman ?

Do you actually think Felix Jones sucks?

Because if you think Felix and Julius are basically one in the same, that's what you're saying. Julius sucks, Felix = Julius, so Felix = sucks too.

That seems like quite a shaky limb you've stepped out on there.

I think most folks know that Felix has shown to have a bit more wiggle than Julius...and that's from somebody who still likes him. Felix's potential is very exciting.

But I gotta admit, some of those runs were Julius-esque. Mentioned in chat tonight...how he was going down after first contact, with almost little to no contact. Yeah I know, they were ankle tackling him, but it sure gave me flashbacks. And then when he finally got a decent run, it was called back on a flag.

he did bounce off a couple of tackles that I saw

but yeah, I definitely felt a Julius vibe at points

JJ really lost an unusual amount of good plays due to stupid penalties. I hope Felix is not snake bit as well.

Agreed. If he is going to ever be more for us than a guy who gets five or six carries a game and is used in a number of gadget plays to exploit his elusiveness, he has to be able to get extra yards on some of those carries he had tonight.

Good news is it was one night, and it was his third preseason game. Plenty of time for him to figure things out, and for us to over analyze. But it is worth mentioning at this point. He hasn't really had much success running up the middle to my recollection.

People are really complaining about tonights game!! How funny. Time for me to go do something else. there is no point in even wasting time on here tonight.

I was stoked after the game tonight. I'm shocked at the overreaction on the board. Thankfully, it's a vocal minority that have no idea what t hey were looking at or what it meant.

Still, it's useful, because I'm able to use the opportunity to beef up my ignore list. Come on, regular season.

I think it's healthy to have concerns after a game like tonight, so long as they're kept in perspective. I mean, we weren't even perfect in our 52-17 Super Bowl victory over Buffalo (thanks, Leon).

Overall, positive night. The Cowboys' first team beat the Texans' first team, and should have hammered them if not for a rare Romo miscue. But even within that, the defense remains an enigma, there are growing injury scares to backups and the special teams coverage unit has to be figured out.

A solid night, for the most part. But there were some parts of the game that leave an awkward -- if not worrisome -- taste.

I fear the OP is correct... Felix has more moves and more break-away speed, but he wants to bust everything to the outside... He wont ever be consistently effective if he cant get it done between the tackles...

And when the heck are we gonna get to see these kick-return skills I keep hearing about?

So far, Choice looks like the more capable of bing a NFL caliber RB (imo)..... Felix looks like a bit-player, and I'm not sure a bit-player was worthy of being our top pick...

Would anyone be truly happy if we were smoking teams on all sides of the ball in "preseason"?

I could just hear it "the cowboys are 3-0(4-0) in preseason... no team wins the SB after winning all of its preseason games"

Oh noooooooooooooooooooooo

With that said. I would like to see a stingier defense and someone who could return kicks.

The regular season can't get here fast enough.

The truth is that I didn't see enough of Julius Jones before he was drafted. As a Cowboy, he constantly tantalized me with the potential I saw early on, but that's all I had to go on. Unfortunately, in my opinion, his potential got used up. Fast.

I'm not a Razorback fan, but I had already seen more than enough of Felix Jones while he was at Arkansas. There may not have been another running back in last April's draft who had the potential to match the role which Garrett plans for him within this offense.

That role during running plays will consist primarily of off-tackle and sweep plays. If you don't want to be disappointed from the get go, you may as well prepare yourself for it. Barber will be receiving the lion's share of between the tackle runs. Probably 25% - 50% of Jones' touches each game will come through pass plays.

That's all you're going to see of Jones. Choice is a very talented back who will definitely see the field, but unless Barber (or to a lesser extent, Jones) is hurt, you're not going to see very much of him in this offense. Barber will continue to punish the interior front seven of the defense and Jones will be asked to utilize his speed create mismatches on the outside.

If this is not what you're expecting, get ready because it'll probably be a very long season for you. As long as both Barber and Jones are healthy, I think that, by season's end, everyone will finally have a clue as to whom Felix Jones really is--namely, he ain't no Julius.
