Felix is lacking what Julius lacked....

Dorsett wasn't a back that would break a ton of tackles... neither was Barry Sanders. These guys avoided tackles, but there are going to be times when the line of scrimmage is clogged and they will go down. These aren't "Earl Campbell" or "Christian Okoye" type of runners. Sanders was continally trapped for losses behind the line of scrimmage.

Felix Jones ability will flash once he breaks the LOS, but there will be plays where he will go down easily due to his size or lack thereof.

You can't have it both ways. 200lb backs aren't known for busting the tackles of 280lb defensive lineman. Likewise 230lb backs aren't going to give you many 20 yard+ runs either.

This dumping on Felix Jones after a 5 carry night would be amazing to me if I wasn't use to the fickleness of many Cowboy fans.

This is a good post. RBs need carries to get rhythm. Barber is one of the few who doesn't, no one wants to get hit by him.;)

I think we would have seen differences with Romo behind center. Johnson just takes too long handing it off and defenses crash to the ball knowing they either got a tackle in the backfield or a sack on a play fake. I swear it took close to 4 seconds for Johnson to get back there.

This week we're down on Felix and up on 'Tellus.

You're a bunch of little girls.

Nuff said! This thread makes me chuckle. :laugh2:

Fools.

The majority of the carries Felix has had, have involved simple blocking schemes - with 2nd stringers in front of him most of the time.

Why would we give any NFL teams film on Felix before the games that matter. We know what we have in him, and we aren't going to let the secret out until the games start counting.

gurode, koiser and big was still in the game only the Tackles were out... I'm tired of hearing these excuses ZOMG were not game planning I still expect to see more from Felix. Blocking scheme or not fumbling in the red zone is poor.

Felix isn't that game breaking for us to hide game film.....

I can't believe there is a thread comparing Felix to the Robot, and the season hasn't started, yet. Good grief, Charlie Brown.

Felix didn't have a whole lot of room last night. The blocking wasn't there when he received his carries. Plus, they were spying him when he went out as the outlet. They were all over him. The Texans had already been gashed, and they came out and stopped the run.

The o-line lost on the toss sweep to the right, There was no place to go. The defense won.

The run up the middle between Gurode and Kozier was clogged. There was no where to go, no push at all from the o-line. That play was blown up. Barber was taken down at the line two times that I remember, too.

He took the pitch wide to his left, the defense was ready. Remember, Barber just spent the last 30 minutes running all over them. The coaches probably blasted them at half-time. It showed, because Dallas o-line wasn't winning on Felix's runs in the third quarter. Who had more intensity on those running plays? It sure didn't look like Dallas' o-line.

There wasn't hardly any push or room to run on the goalline where he fumbled. He fumbled. He will learn from it. He didn't fumble at Arkansas. McFadden did the fumbling.

The one thing might want to look at on film , besides the fumble, was the play where Ryans, a pro bowl player, tripped him up when he was running to his right. If he had a lane on that play, that could have been a good pick up. He was flying towards something. I would have to see it again, but I think Ryans saved some yardage for the Texans on that one. Felix must not have seen Ryans slashing in there, or he would have avoided him. He'll get better and better as the season goes on. The comfort level will go up after every game he plays.

His best run, a seven yarder, was called back on an illegal formation. Felix didn't get a lot of opportunites in the game and when he did, their wasn't near the room or push that he had in the two previous games.

There was one play where Barber hit a lane that led to the outside. The lane was huge. Barber cut up north and south. Felx would have hit that same lane towards the sideline and turned the corner with ease and put six points on the board on that play. You better believe the coaches will recognize this when they see the film.

I didn't see the comparison to "the robot" after the S.D. or Denver games.

Oh, well. He will soon make believers out of some of you.

Felix Jones will be a super-star in Dallas.

The Titans didn't give Chris Johnson any room last night, either. He had a nice run, just like the one Felix got called back. He made a nice zig-zag run on an outlet catch for a first down. I saw the first quarter. He didn't have room to work when I watched.

I think the Felix Jones/Chris Johnson VS Mendenhall/Stewart should be fun to watch.

i doubt they're hiding him, how ever it's pretty safe to say they're hiding how he's going to be used.

The fumble is the only negative with his game last night IMO and it's better he do it now if he's gonna do it then when the season starts.

Bet you when Houston saw him come in the game the first thing they said was Felix is in watch for sweeps and tosses, and and don't give him any room to move on passing downs. Easy enough to stop him really when he's more or less all you have to worry about put TO, Witten, Romo and Barber in there at the same time and it's VERY different

Power to break tackles through the line of scrimmage.
Difference is, it was the offensive tackles Julius had problems with.

Funny I have been watching the vikings and steelers and I have seen peterson get tackled by one person about 3 times and saw him stuffed catching the ball in the flat...
