I can't believe there is a thread comparing Felix to the Robot, and the season hasn't started, yet. Good grief, Charlie Brown.
Felix didn't have a whole lot of room last night. The blocking wasn't there when he received his carries. Plus, they were spying him when he went out as the outlet. They were all over him. The Texans had already been gashed, and they came out and stopped the run.
The o-line lost on the toss sweep to the right, There was no place to go. The defense won.
The run up the middle between Gurode and Kozier was clogged. There was no where to go, no push at all from the o-line. That play was blown up. Barber was taken down at the line two times that I remember, too.
He took the pitch wide to his left, the defense was ready. Remember, Barber just spent the last 30 minutes running all over them. The coaches probably blasted them at half-time. It showed, because Dallas o-line wasn't winning on Felix's runs in the third quarter. Who had more intensity on those running plays? It sure didn't look like Dallas' o-line.
There wasn't hardly any push or room to run on the goalline where he fumbled. He fumbled. He will learn from it. He didn't fumble at Arkansas. McFadden did the fumbling.
The one thing might want to look at on film , besides the fumble, was the play where Ryans, a pro bowl player, tripped him up when he was running to his right. If he had a lane on that play, that could have been a good pick up. He was flying towards something. I would have to see it again, but I think Ryans saved some yardage for the Texans on that one. Felix must not have seen Ryans slashing in there, or he would have avoided him. He'll get better and better as the season goes on. The comfort level will go up after every game he plays.
His best run, a seven yarder, was called back on an illegal formation. Felix didn't get a lot of opportunites in the game and when he did, their wasn't near the room or push that he had in the two previous games.
There was one play where Barber hit a lane that led to the outside. The lane was huge. Barber cut up north and south. Felx would have hit that same lane towards the sideline and turned the corner with ease and put six points on the board on that play. You better believe the coaches will recognize this when they see the film.
I didn't see the comparison to "the robot" after the S.D. or Denver games.
Oh, well. He will soon make believers out of some of you.
Felix Jones will be a super-star in Dallas.
