Felix Jones is now an Eagle

Pretty depressing.
I know Scandrick is still with us, but that was a hugely pathetic stretch.

Oh well.
Looking forward now.

He lost his will to play after Murray was drafted and gained weight. He needs to redefine himself and re-motivate himself and he can still have a productive career. I wish him the best.

NE had 13 draft picks in 09, they have 2 left on roster, and that will probably go to 1 before the season as Edelman will probably be cut since they just drafted 2 WR's and signed Amendola in FA.

Pitt had 9 picks in 09, they have 1 left on roster (Ziggy Hood, there 1st rounder).

09 was a terrible draft for the Cowboys but they were not the only team to miss on a lot of picks.

If he lost motivation being behind DeMarco Murray, he may not even show up at the stadium behind Shady and Brown.

Good luck Felix, hope you have big games against the Giants and Skins.

Hell of a first round that turned out to be... thank god we only had 2 picks to miss with

Best of luck to him. It will be interesting to see how he performs on a different team/scheme. Can't imagine that his opportunities will be great playing behind arguably the best RB in the league in McCoy.

would he be considered a bust?

because in all honesty i think it's debateable for either answer.

I think what is important is Felix was an experienced backup for Murray who knew the system and could both run and pass block. The backs we have left are in one category:

1. Yet to prove they can play in the NFL.

Goodbye and good riddance! If Shady ever goes down, I would love nothing more than Felix "The turf tackled me" Jones getting the starting gig. Heck, I would love to see him just split reps with Shady.

Never lived up to his draft pick. Some good memories but not many.
No Im not rooting for him while he plays for the Eagles.

His productivity up in Philly should be a great way to gauge what we can do with a player as opposed to what a different coaching staff and scheme can do with the same talent. That is, if he can stay healthy long enough...

Good comment. Jones was never used correctly in Dallas. He was a "helper" at Arkansas and should have been used the same way here. He should never have been asked to carry the whole load. it set him up for failure.

I thought the same at first, but he actually averaged 4.22 Yards Per Carry in games where he got 15 or more carries, and only 3.15 in games where he got less than 15 carries.

As a 1st round draft pick, he was most certainly a bust for Dallas.

As an NFL player in general, the story is not yet fully written.

If he's motivated I believe he can still be a solid #2 RB.

I'll be interested in seeing how Chip Kelly utilizes him. Kelly appears to be better at developing a run game than Garrett. I can't go all in though because we have to see how his style translates to the NFL.

Well, I doubt he'd be able to run the ball 50 times a game in the NFL

I dont' understand thoughts like this. Either the guy can play, or he can't play. I can understand the personnel groups he's in being a factor, and a guy only being a fit for certain personnel groups, but then how he's used is only a function of when we get into those situations where we use those groups. If we were to run one as the base offensive group, then there's no reason to think he shouldn't be expected to carry the whole load.

The reality is, I think, that Felix showed a lot of promise as a rookie taking the ball outside and then one-cutting up the field. Defenses adjusted to this once they got enough tape on him, and he wasn't ever able to sufficiently counter the adjustments from there and was relatively limited thereafter. Last year was an exception when he came into camp not in condition and looked lethargic for the first 6 weeks of the season or so before rounding into shape eventually.

He just wasn't a very good first round pick. The idea of taking a RB there was a bad one to begin with, and then he didn't deliver. He wasn't a bust, but he also wasn't a very good NFL player. And we think he wasn't used properly because he showed great promise early and then underdelivered after.
