I'm glad someone else understands my logic. I have to say at this point I'm leaning towards having Rivera as HC, and JG as OC.

Neither would be without solid assistants on the staff now. Bowles is thought of highly and would be a huge help to Rivera, and then both Sparano and Palmer would be huge in assisting JG. It's not like they would be starting from scratch without coaches that understand how to coach and know the players. Having coaches from the BP tree and Lovie tree is not a bad thing on one staff.

I would just like young-innovative coaches. No re-tread temporary HC's that will just continue to lead us to 9-7 records. At least with a young HC and coaching staff you can expect improvement, with guys like Turner, W.Phillips, you know what you are getting. They have proven that the players don't play for them thus the reason they are again coordinators. Give a chance to a young coach with modern NFL experience a chance to prove whether or not he can be a good HC. Don't hire someone you already know isn't! It's just a stoooopid idea this two-headed monster idea. I don't see how people can think this is a good idea. Not only that. What has Jason Garrett done for the QB's in Miami? Jerry might like him but he isn't even in the same league as a guy like Rivera or Rex Ryan who have been running their respective specialty for a few years and have done outstanding jobs.....Garrett is a shot in the dark right now..

if it is I am fine with it...I know what Turner will mean to Romo and our offense and if we have a good defensive staff, things will be fine

our team is not the Commanders or Raiders teams he coached previously

Exactly right

Norv is not the flashy pick. Only if we can get Jason as the OC/QB coach. Im ok with that. We would only need to fill the DC spot and that may be Bowles.

I would not be surprised seeing Jerry going after a hot shot DC and paying him good money to come here.

Again you are just an idiot. You have no clue that Jerry is just hiring JG as a potential HC or a package deal. It's just not proven yet. You are making an assumption based on news reports which I think is totally stupid. There might be fire where there is smoke but you don't know yet. I'm sure any coach Jerry hires like JG it will be because of potential. Anyone who hires Rivera it will be because of potential not because he wants to replace him. It would be a stupid stupid move on Jerry's part to hire a coach just to replace him with Garret. If you don't think it is stupid then you are just a dumb blind homer that will support anything the organization does anyways, so there is no talking to your type.....If Rivera is hired it wont be because Jerry wants to replace him it will be because of the results he's had in Chicage...they don't lie brother...

why else WOULD JJ hire JG?!?!?!... what has JG done to EARN the OC gig, fool?!?!?!.... P-O-T-E-N-T-I-A-L, you moronic hillbilly!.... IF JJ hires RR, why in the world would he bring JG to town - HE'S NOT READY, YET, son!.... if JG shows up, absent Norn - BIG mistake!... maybe you saw sumthin' with the mia qbs that every1 else missed....

Tony Dungy would be a great example of "fiery" being a tad overrated.

Yeah but the players overwhelmingly respect his methods. As long as your players respect what you are doing and like you, they will play for you. I think Parcells has lost that IMO.

There's a whole slew of coaches who don't exhibit fiery emotions, but get their guys going. The best thing a coach can have going for him is his players trust. If they trust his plan, and what he has set out for them, they'll play hard and smart, if they're comfortable. If they don't, some may play hard and smart, but then you'll have guys like Bradie James out there going through the motions, and destroying the team defense.

People play hard for Bellichick because he always has a good plan, he puts them in position to succeed, and they know their role, and know it's successful. Not because of any speech or anything. A fiery guy is fine, but not a necessity. What you need for a head coach is a good CEO, someone who handles people well.

Nice backpeddle. So now you are saying it's a bad idea to bring in Garrett without Turner being the HC? How will Phillips help out JG since he is a Defensive coach over a guy like Rivera who is also a defensive coach? I don't get your stance. You make no ***** sense homer....

Maybe he never had the right men....

You darn sure would have to bring in a hot shot DC in that scenario.. but who? Doesnt seem to me that any of them happen to be looking for work right now except as HC's.

Trying to get away with Bowles or someone like him would be asking for it. How many teams get away with such unproven OC's/DC's?

If any it's because they were well oiled machines in the first place and they just had to replace the guy who got his unit to that level with someone else cause the guy moved on to bigger things.

And someone who has the maturity, knowledge, and experience to stand up to Mr. Jerry Jones. Hence why I don't want "young" and "fiery" or a first-time HC.

I get the whole Aikman thing...

But there's a significant difference between an OC and a HC...

He's good at one and absolutely horrific at the other...

No thanks...

Turner for Parcells. Bowles for Zimmer. And Garrett for Payton (a year removed). These are not improvements. These are the reasons why everybody was telling you guys to be careful what you wish for. Movement does not equal progress. I feel about HC Norv Turner the same way I felt about starting QB Vinny Testaverde.
