Every game I watched this year, both their pass rush and run defense were outstanding. I'll be delighted to see what you're saying if true. You've watched every game and I haven't, so you must have seen something that I haven't as yet. Between now and Sunday, I'll be hoping you're 100% correct. In the meantime, thank you kindly for the update, although I'm yet to be fully convinced that KC's "D" is as bad as you say.

I am curious, which Chiefs games have you watched?

The only two I would say they could be thought of having performed "well" were the Chargers and Commanders games. Maybe Pittsburg from a points perspective.

Very bad defense, very good offense. That is about all you need to know. I guess you can say we match up pretty evenly :muttley:

They do outgun us in special teams though, might turn out to be the difference.

When you say their defense is bad, I find it hard to believe it's any worse than ours but until Sunday, I'll gladly take your word for it. ;)

You are not describing Smith this year.

He is doing better this year, but he had a more aggressive stretch in 2015 too that didn't last. It's possible he's reinvented himself, but I would bet he reverts back to the guy he's always been.

I saw the Pats, Eagles, Chargers and Commanders. All KC wins except for the Chargers. As I recall KC lost that one by 1 point.

I think the Chiefs have the most diverse, innovative offense in the league right now.

And considering how Marinelli's defense has looked for the most part this year, I fully expect that defense to get lit up. I just hope people are screaming about a lousy scheme and poor coaching rather than blaming players who aren't being put into position to succeed.

Offensively, if they do, in fact, lose Elliott, the Cowboys are in real trouble to keep up offensively. His absence will allow the Chiefs defense to adjust for more passing and pass rushing, and I don't feel that the Cowboys passing game is hitting on all cylinders.

Add it all up and "I have a bad feeling about this."
Not as creative as our offense

I hope JG and Scott linehan don't come out with a conservative game plan and start attacking in 4th quarter ehen we are 20 points behind

We need to keep it low scoring and our defense to take advantage of the chiefs playing late Monday night and coming into our town. I’ll be at the game Sunday so I hope I bring luck.

Seattle steamrolled Houston? Didn't both teams score 40 points on each other? Isn't a streamroll when it's a one sided game?

A streamroll to me would of been Seattle 40 Houston 10

I think last season's stats have been proven to not be a concern for this year. Both Pats and Texans are bottom third in scoring defense and the Pats are dead last in yards per game. Seattle just steamrolled the Texans. Not saying the Chiefs aren't good, but they are not all world.

KC's defense is bottom tier as far as yards per game goes. Dallas just needs to ensure they don't turn the ball over and that they score touchdowns instead of field goals and this game is winnable.

I think he's talking about how Seattle offense steamrolled Houstons defense...which is true.

And Houston's offense also steamrolled Seattle defense. But he was talking about the former.

They should be down on their defense.

They are giving up a lot of yardage.

And why is that? Well Bob Sutton has gone super conservative and is playing man coverage behind a very straight forward 3 or 4 man rush. Sometimes two man rush and flooding the field with DBs.

Very little to no blitzing.

Sound familiar?

Shocking considering the tree Sutton comes from. I wonder why the change?

I don't think we stand a chance, and quite frankly I'm starting to look ahead to next year. Our defense is incapable of stopping legitimate offenses, and our offense won't be able to pick up tough yards without Zeke. For some reason Dez isn't the monster he once was, and him and Dak just can't connect for big games this year.

This year has just been one giant circus and the results have been as such.

Honestly, for some reason I think the offense is going to have a huge game. Like I think they are going to hear all the BS that our season is over and come out pissed. That is how I would be....everyone is disrespecting the other 10 guys in the lineup with all this talk. The defense on the other hand could be in trouble. Smith is doing what gives us fits, using the backs and TE out of the back field. Does anyone think Jones will keep Kelce in check? I don't. Their WR's have been better than anticipated as well. This kind of reminds me of the Cowboys-Denver matchup a few years ago with Manning and Romo lighting it up to the tune of 40+.

Hope you are right. My only concern is KC has a great tight end with speed and a speedy wide receiver and they like to lean on both. Not sure we have the track meet type speed they have.

Both teams have very beatable defenses, this has the makings of a shootout. I think we'll have to play ball control and keep our defense off the field to have a chance to win this one.

The content of the original post was on the topic of how the Chiefs handled the Patriots and Texans defense. The response was specifically pertaining to how these defenses were not a goid litmus test. the Texans defense was in fact steamrolled by the Seahawks.

-Chiefs went on the road to play on turf against the Patriots to open the season. The New England defense was coming off a season where they were #1 in points allowed. KC posted 42 points on the scoreboard.

I don't see how what they did last season was relevant. NE has had the worst defense in the NFL this season.
