Why are you going way back to 2017? Plus 2 TDs is more than 0 TDs.
Why does the year matter? The point is, Dak homers will do and say anything to paint him in a positive light while not giving credit to others. He put up the same amount of yards on way worse efficiency and got credit for the win while Rush was carried by the defense….

Lance vs Prescott?? Apples and oranges for sure. One was a bust at SF that could not win the third string QB job. The other is a legitimate starter for a good NFL team. Both are a long way from being elite. They both have potential and opportunity but ....

Cooper Rush vs the Rams

10/16
102 yds
0 TD

Dak stans: “the defense won that game!”

Dak vs Commanders in 2017

11/22
102 yds

Dak stans: “dak did what he needed to do to win the game!”
Bro you went back to 2017 to make this example. That same 2017 Dak everyone disliked because he was Dink and Dak remember? Now everyone wants the bus driver Cooper Rush. This is why I can't get with y'all because the alternative you can't sell me on.

We should all be rooting for a situation where we sign Lance to a long term deal cheap and he goes on to have great success because this would be the best thing for the team. We've seen Prescott's ceiling and it aint the Superbowl or even an NFC Championship appearance so let's hope something clicks in Lance's head by the time Dak's deal is up.

Who on defense was throwing the football. Did the game change and now someone on defense throws the ball when the Cowboys are on offense? Damn, that is confusing...
Nobody was throwing the football. They had one of the worst offenses in the league.

at first I didn’t want anything to do with Trey being brought here……but since I’ve witnessed the delicious meltdown by some of the DakBois its been well worth the 4th round pick

Small price to pay for this type of entertainment

The year matters because both quarterbacks were at different ages and levels of experience at that time in 2017 than they were last year in 2022. Both guys are the same age with Dak only being 4 months older than Cooper.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Young was apprehensive about the 49ers trading quarterback Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys.

"I have PTSD," the QB who played for the 49ers from 1987 to 1999 said, per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. "I feel like we should never trade anything to Dallas again after the disastrous Charles Haley mistake. We traded away Super Bowls with that deal."

Lance, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in 2022, needed a change of scenery after he was demoted to QB3 in San Francisco. But Young implied he doesn't believe Dallas is the right destination for the 23-year-old.

"I'm a big fan of Trey," Young said. "It's not the first landing spot I would have thought of."

Despite Lance's upside, quarterback Dak Prescott holds a firm grip on the starting job after making two Pro Bowls and winning 61 games in seven seasons. If he suffered an injury, Dallas would likely turn to backup Cooper Rush, who went 4-1 as a starter last season.
He's such a hater.

In a couple of years, Lance's rookie deal will be up and he won't come at a fraction of the cost.
Lance has this year and next year on his rookie contract, plus his fifth year ... which will be pricey for a backup but cheap for a starter.

Dak has one more year on his contract after this year, and it will cost the team about $60 million. What that means is that they need to extend him, make him play on a contract year while taking a HUGE cap hit, or cut him and take the biggest dead cap hit of all time. Chances are they extend Dak by at least a couple of years unless they know at the end of this year that Lance will be comparable. That "cut Dak" idea is hard to imagine, since Lance will get very few reps until next offseason.

Let's say Dallas extends Dak's contract for two years and by the end of next season it looks like Lance is ready to be a starter. They'll either release Dak and hopefully take less of a cap hit than they would next season, or trade Lance for a draft pick. I'd prefer they cut Dak, not because I hate him like others here do, but because by then he'll be 32/33 and Lance will be 25.

With ALL of that said, if they do cut Dak, like in the scenario I laid out above, Lance will have little to no starting experience. He will, in fact, cost less than Dak Prescott. By how much, I don't know, but it could be by $10 million or more.

He is quite right about Haley. Peeing in coaches cars will tend to u you escorted out of town real quickly though!

So the defense doesn't win games for Dak?
They do. Special teams, too. Both units contribute to the success of the team. The offense tends to work better with Prescott than it does with Rush, which gives the best chance for Dallas to win games based on the current personnel. Rush proved to be a good backup last season. I don't think he proved he would be a good starter.

Lance will be QB2 next training camp. The Cowboys did not make this trade to have him sit at #3. Rush will go to QB3 or they will release him and bring in another rook. Cowboys also made this trade just in case Dak decides that his next contract is deserving of $55m per year. The Cowboys at least have a fallback plan just in case the S hits the fan.
