This is congruent with Chargers fans saying that Rivers is twice as good as Romo.
Eli threw for 450 and 4 TDs against us. The Chiefs' passing offense is conservative and the Rams' passing offense is terrible and yet those two QBs averaged 230 yards and 1.5 TD with no INT against us. Rivers and the Chargers have the most competent passing attack we've faced so far and they're at home. I'm not sure why this is so outlandish.

Eli has Cruz, Nicks, Randle, etc.

Rivers has an older Gates, Eddie Royal and Vincent Brown...

this. The giants may have the best 1-2-3 guys @WR right now but Eli cant get the ball to them because their OL is in shambles.

I just don't buy into it because they don't have much of a running game. The Giants games always end like that for us, so i don't put much fantasy value on that outside of cowboys vs giants.

And yet Eli has thrown for 1 TD in their last two games. That OL is a catastrophe. Meanwhile, Rivers has thrown for 8 TDs and 1 INT in 3 games all against pretty good defenses.

Their line isn't that good at all. Selvie on the rook again, unless the backup plays.

We seem to stabilized our secondary the last game, it looks like Church is playing better, Wilcox is a steady/solid lynchpin, Carr and Claiborne are not junk. I honestly think we can keep Rivers at or around 200 and I have always liked Rivers more than most NFL fans,

Well, his comment was that Rivers isn't twice as good at Romo. That much should be apparent.

And, while they racked up yards on opening weekend due in large part to some blown S coverages, you can't mention the defense in that Giants game without also mentioning the defensive turnovers. Those were the story of that game, and if you're going to come in planning to feast on that secondary, you have to take into account the possibility that they're going to tip, pick, or strip you on the way to your big passing yardage.

My point is not that I think Rivers will go off on us. My point is that it's not laughable to suggest that he'll have a strong day.

No, the OP was comparing the idea that Rivers would have a big passing day against us to the idea that Rivers is twice as good as Romo. The first one is debatable, the second one is ludicrous.

As for your second point, it was a fantasy football piece. That other stuff barely matters in fantasy.

Ah, well, in a fantasy footbal context, well, I don't care. :)

Here is a link to the box score from the last time Romo and the Cowboys took on the Chargers in 2009 San Diego. Phillip Rivers was in his prime, and they had a RB named Tomlinson. The final score was 20-17, and there wasn't a hint of domination by Rivers and the Chargers. It was a pretty even game. (Thanks to whoever put up a link to these box scores earlier.)

And they are gonna be without their best reciever, Malcom Floyd. Who btw is 6-5 and definitely could have hurt us.

That was 2009, 4 years ago. We finished second in the league in points allowed that year. We haven't finished in the top 15 since. (And you're welcome :) )

Hey, I'm very hopeful about our pass defense this year. But I don't think they've proven themselves to be a top unit after three games, and they were most certainly not a top unit the last couple seasons. Time will tell.

I think it's possible to say rivers will ball out, he's a veteran QB.
But to call our defense weak this year? I'm not saying we're great, but weak? Is this guy smoking the same stuff the guy under the mask was on

Rivers is very capable of having a big passing day against the Cowboys he's a highly productive passer and the Cowboys have had issues in coverage.

As good as the defense has been in some ways, it only ranks 20th-ish in passing efficiency. The prospect of Rivers going off is not so outlandish.

This guy is speaking in terms of Fantasy Football. Fantasy Football doesn't care how the points or scored, only that they are scored. Sam Bradford racks up 200 yards and a TD in the 2nd half of a blowout, FF doesn't care.

Dallas has given up the 6th most fantasy QB points, and about half came in Week 1.

What he says has the stats to back it up, but what he said lacks all the context in the world. Dallas averages 300 yards passing against them a week but that's only because you can steal 60 to 70 yards from the Giants game and spread it to the other games while still keeping the Giants game above 300........the Giants gained a lot of yards and the other teams, not so much. They've given up 7 TDs but 4 came in week 1 and the TD against the Rams was completely worthless.

San Diego has actually given up the most so Romo owners should be jacked about that. And they really haven't played much at QB. Schaub, Vick and Locker and all of those guys had good points against them. It wasn't just 1 week covering for a bunch of other weeks.
