Rivers spent the whole game taking what the defense gave him. It's just that the defense gave him a lot.

With our offense if you play to what the defense gives you, you'll get a bunch short pass opportunities to a sluggish Jason Witten. Rivers challenged Claiborne, one on a fade because his receiver had man coverage . While Dez had two TDs I felt we missed some single coverage fade opportunities to settle for dink dunk passes to Witten. Furthermore with the way SD was manning the clock there is no way we could afford to chew up as much time we did at the end.

Rivers having a big day didn't surprise me I expected it. The Cowboys pass defense sucks. We're 5 games into the season and the defense has already given up two 400+ yard passing games. Rivers had a career high in completions and almost set a franchise record. Peyton Manning is going to be licking his chops studying the Cowboys game film.

Rivers is very capable of having a big passing day against the Cowboys he's a highly productive passer and the Cowboys have had issues in coverage.
