Dak has lots of stats in his favor for a big extension. Just stumbled across a new one, he has a higher career passing yds/game avg than Romo. 225 v 219

219 is incorrect.

219ypg is based off his entire games played, but he also was the backup/holder, therefore making him play in a game where he didn't actually play QB.
34,183 yards / 156 games played = 219 ypg
34,183 / 127 games started = 269 ypg

Another point is that no one here claims that Dak belongs in the same category as Brees or Brady or guys like that.

If you look at the top its all guys who have been in the league ten years (or 7 for Russell Wilson), plus Mahomes (who cost 3 premium picks to acquire) and Goff - who cost six premium picks and plays in the perfect offense.

If you look at it through the lens of Dak being a 4th round pick in his third season there is no reason for complaints.
You're forgetting Luck (6 years) and Watson, but yeah, this.

He came in as a QB in relief in 3 games in his career (the game before he replaced Bledsoe, the game where he replaced Bledsoe, and the season finale in 2016). So, it's really:

Yards / (game in which he played QB) = 263
Yards / GS = 267 (subtracting yards in games he didn't start)

Yeah, Iget a first glace why if you got the number.
It was their mistake, not yours
They are including all those games he didnt play QB...but maybe did hold on kicks.
And then WIki will just blondlytake numbers or “facts” unless they are corrected.
And the point isn't that Dak is a better passer than Tony, but that he has many stats in his favor come extension time. He has EVERY stat in his favor, nothing bad on paper.

Yea, sounds right. Didn't feel like figuring out which games he came into relief early or games where he left with an injury/Eagles game in 2016.

Just remembered a debate in the offseason about the 219 number.

No.
He started 127 games
If you want to add 3-4 more to that, its fine.

That 167 number includes about 35-40 gamesthat he never played QB at all, but did dress out for the game (maybe special teams holder)

No hes not, and its not remotely close

Please Stop blindly believing things without using your brain to think it through
Surely, youre better than that

My guess is that someone used a year or two of “games” that Romo did not start at QB but was holder
219 a game maybe a couple of games a year.
The guy has like 50 300 yard games

His true average is about 265-270 yards per game...or in entirely higher stratospere

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RomoTo00/gamelog/2006/

The yards per game in 2006 is calculated including 6 games Tony didn't start, 4 games of which he didn't have a pass. Of the two games in relief, one was only two passes. The second was a half, when Tony really replaced Bledsoe.

Tony basically had 10.5 games in 2006, with 2903 yards. 276 yards per game. Around 265 in 2007 and 2008.

Despite being kind of a spaz that first season, he had TO, Glenn, and Witten. Best receiving corps of his career. Best yards per attempt of his career too. Near the top in yards per game started.

Yeah, however you slice it, his actual Yards per game were in the 267-276 range. Not that comically low 219

Huh? Was it me you meant to respond to?

He played QB in 130 games and passed for 34,183 yards (263/game).
He started at QB in 127 games and passed for 33,892 yards in those games (267/game).
If you include the games he never played QB, as @Crypto did, the (stupid) number is 219/game.

Kellen Moore is at 256.

Not really. If you look at the stats, they include all games and not necessarily games that Tony actually played in. Remember, Tony sat when he first came into the league. He only became the starter later. If you look at games that Tony actually played in and compare those numbers to yards, Tony's average is significantly higher, then is Dak's. Dak has basically started day one so while Dak's average of 225 or what ever it is, is accurate, Tony's is not. His actual average per game (played) is actually like 270.

Bleh, sorry, corrected the post. Referring to Romo. It's 130 games at QB, 127 started. I got 267 in my head from the yards/game. But I didn't have that error in the post where you said I was wrong, so still confused.

Is take Dak ahead of about 4 guys listed above him. Otherwise, not a bad lost.
