Fire Wade Please

Rex Ryan's defense has schooled about 30 other coordinators to.

So lets give him a shot at HC. Maybe its about time.

Caper's was a bust as a head coach and he's a defensive coordinator anyway.

He's won more playoff games as a HC than Wade has. Although I was just throwing out a name really.

The Cowboys defense right now is better than it has been at anytime under Parcells.

How many #1 picks did that take?

And isn't this the same defense that was an embarrassment until after the Rams game when Wade was told to take over for his hand picked coordinator Stewart?

Again, Wade knows defense. I get it. But he has proven in multiple places not just here that he is not cut out to be a HC, unless its as a mouthpiece for Jerry. Continuity of mediocrity makes no sense.

BTW, would THIS have EVER happened on a Parcells defense?

(thanks to bbgun)

Greg Easterbrook (TMQB):

Single Worst Play of the Season -- So Far: Baltimore leads 26-24 with 1:36 remaining in the final game at Texas Stadium. The Boys have three timeouts, so a comeback that ends the stadium's run happily, and causes Dallas to advance, is possible. On the previous Ravens possession, McGahee went 77 yards for a touchdown as numerous Dallas defenders simply laid on the ground and watched, and megabucks corner Terence Newman made only a halfhearted chase attempt. The previous Baltimore play was a pathetic effort by Dallas. Now fullback McClain runs 83 yards for the icing touchdown. McClain is a slow 260-pound power back, yet no Dallas defender catches him. Most Dallas defenders didn't even try to catch McClain; they merely stood watching him go the length of the field, or jogged halfheartedly in his direction. Watch the tape and there's a blur to McClain's left -- it's Neal, the blocking back, who beats all the Dallas defenders down the sideline to escort McClain. Two fullbacks outran the entire Dallas defense, racing past the team's highly paid speed-merchant secondary. Dallas Cowboys defense, you are guilty of the single worst play of the 2008 season -- so far.

I bet this doesn't even get acknowledged or in any way addressed by Coach Marshmallow. Probably give them a day off.

Yea, and you can keep pretending that all this supposed lack of discipline stuff is all the stuff of DREAMS. By the way, where are we ranked in penalties? Did I hear you say #32? Yea, you are right. Wade runs a real tight ship.

And with whip cracker BP where exactly where we in penalties???

I still remember BP coming in and stating penalties were on him... then 3 years later saying I don't coach penalties that's not on me... hahahahaha.

Flozell has a physical impediment that causes him false starts, no coach is going to do away with those unless they want to have him give up sacks.

It also doesn't help when you have a bunch of young guys playing heavy minutes. Guys like Ware and Witten... guess they are just really undisciplined... right??

Wade has his style and we knew it going in. If a 30 year old man needs to be told not to jump off-sides he needs to undergo remedial education. But it is clear Wade isn't a fanny to the fire type guy. Those who want that are never going to like him.

I honestly prefer a hard-nosed coach myself. I'd love Cowher here, I liked BP here. But you don't fire a guy for being what you expected when you hired him. And coaches who were super gentle and coaches who were super strict have won Super Bowls and all across the spectrum so it isn't just one way or the other.

Wade will get his 1 more year then Jerry will evaluate what the team needs then.

We will never hire any Ryan period. Buddy's demon seed can rot in places like Oakland or Philly.

I forget how we are the only defense with first rounders on it. We all know Balitmore and Pittsburgh only have 2nd guys like Ratliff right?

I think Wade makes a much better DC than head coach. I wish we would looked a little longer and harder at singletary. It looks like he just might be turning things around in hell right now.

Show me a guy who reacts like this instead of a HC whose veins are bulging in his forehead and neck and is showing teeth like a hungry hiyena and I will show you a born loser. Wade is a born loser as a HC. He's called a defensive genius, but you can only live off that reputation for a while until reality catches up to you.

Fire the Clown Wade Phillips and let's get started on our future before our talent starts eroding.

We've already been delayed two years by this witless, clueless cupcake of a coach.

Make the hurting stop.

Come on. His defense just gave up 159 yards of 2 carries after he called a defense that has worked all year long. Prior to that, the defense had held them to 106 yards rushing. Their average was 140 YPG, I believe.

The strong safety failed really bad on both plays. Keith Davis has been scrappy, but he came back down to Earth on both plays. The high priced cover free safety showed he isn't very strong against the run. Hamlin blew the first tackle and got trucked on the second one.

If your defense was playing lights out, and all of the sudden, that happened, you would be sick too.

Perhaps, he should just stand there and give that defeated stare that Parcells used to give.

Do you get rid of the coach or draft a new SS?

Draft the SS.

Plus, give him TOTAL CONTROL or a say in the offense. I don't think he has it.

DeMarcus Ware is the best player on the team, and he is fixing to be the richest player on the team.

Wade Phillips has him playing like the best player in the NFL. I think he is the best player in the NFL. Ware has become the most feared player in the NFL.

Phillips has Terence Newman shutting people down by shadowing receivers. Newman has elite cover skills, and Phillips is sicking him on the other team's best receiver. Newman is straight up ball'in.

That is the two best players on your defense. Ware needs Newman, and Newman needs Ware. It all works together. You could list them as 1A and 1B in regards to the best players on defense. That is the way I think about them.

He has Jay Ratliff in the Pro Bowl. He is dominating in this defense.

He has Bradie James playing lights out and deserving of the Pro Bowl. Parcells almost got this kid run out of the NFL.

Give him total control!

Jerry Jones has a lot of jack invested in that defense, and Wade Phillips is giving Jerry a return on his investment.

In a two gap offense or 4-3, Ware doesn't have 20 sacks.

Jerry Jones isn't getting the bang for his buck on offense right now.

Washington
New York
Philadelphia

All play great defense. To compete in this division, you better play great defense. Wade Phillips gives you great defense and a chance to win every game.

You fire Wade Phillips and put in a new defense, or if you don't have the master of that defense calling it, you will see a big drop off. Ask San Diego.

I say the same thing everytime Tony Dungy talks. Or Andy Reid for that matter.

Fire their soft spoken, must not know whats going on ***.

If they can't bang the podium in a threatening manner, sweat profusely and call out players, they ain't worht a damn.

I want a coach who spits big gobbers in all directions everytime he talks. :D

I don't feel that way at all with those two guys.

1. Tony Dungy - Integrity, that is the word that comes to mind. Respect.

2. Andy Reid - Organized

I might be wrong with both, but that is what I think of when I think of their coaching.

Dungy, I also can think Super Bowl winner.
Reid, Super Bowl entry and NFC winner.

Wade? weak, awe shucks, captain cup cake, playoff loser

if only we could hire Phillips as DC and get a real HC. oh yea and fire Garrett!

When you have such a division on offense and defense where we are debating "who is giving Jerry the bang for his buck", then who is the head coach? If the offense isn't on Phillips too, in the ultimate sense, then who is the head coach?

Thats right Cowboys fans. The man. The President, the GM, the water boy, the socks and jocks guy, the injury report guy, the lockeroom speech guy, the TV PR guy, the stadium planner and builder guy, the celebrity entertainer guy, THE COACH, the one and only, JEEEERRRRRRRRY JONES!

He was 13-3 last year as head coach.

How about giving him total control over the team, and that includes the ability to pick his coaches, including offense coaches.

Simple offensive game management would have this team with 12 wins right now. (Washington, Arizona, and Pittsburgh)

Does Wade have control over a $ 3 million dollar coordinator?

It sure doesn't look like it.

I just wonder if Jerry will let JG go

Why get yourself worked up over comments and his demeanor during a......press conference? Who cares how he is? That's for the media not the players.

I don't feel like Wade has it in him to be a HC. Time will obviously tell on this one but his team still commits simple mistakes that you cannot do if you wanna win football games. It's the little stuff with him that bothers me.

The Press Conference is just an example. It is what goes on all the time (per his own players) that is just DEMONSTRATED at the press conference that bothers me.

The team made some of the same mistakes under Parcells. At some point, you have to look at some of the players. Miami doesn't have huge penalties this year under Sparano, but Sparano had penalty problems in Dallas. Part of it is some bad calls the Cowboys seem to always get.

This team has some flaws. Phillips has done a good job of hiding the SS position until the very end of the last game. LG has been a problem with Proctor. Losing McBriar was a killer. Losing Felix Jones was a killer. Special teams has been an issue in a couple of losses. I think the personnel of special teams is an issue. The two players Phillips has brought in from San Diego have helped, big time.

The Cowboys can win games the way other teams win games if they manage the offensive side of the game when it calls for it. The bombs away mentality of Jason Garrett is a high risk, high reward system. You have to know when to hold your cards close to your vest.

I personally don't think the "bombs away" is always Garrett. I think a lot of that is Romo. On the play where he threw deep to Owens and Owens couldn't find the ball, go back and look at the replay and you will see Roy Williams WIDE open at 15 yards. Romo has to see the field better and I personally wish he would start looking in #11's direction more.
