I'm sorry, I've tried to stay positive this week, think about the fact that we still have a meaningful game to play, etc., etc., but hearing Wade Phillip's press conference yesterday just sealed it for me. What a weak voiced, ZERO motivation of a coach. If Jerry Jones keeps him as a HEAD COACH he will get what he deserves, and it won't be a Super Bowl Championship.

Wade is not getting fired. It's that simple.

If he doesn't win a Playoff Game, he will probably be fired and should be.

Also, I think it would be foolish to fire Wade Phillips now, just like I thought it would be foolish to fire him when we lost to the Skins and Rams.

Let the guy finish out the season.

Firing him after the Rams loss wouldn't have been such a bad idea, IMO. If they were gonna do it either do it early or wait till after the season.

I didn't mean like TODAY. :), but when the season is over he should be shown the door.

We all know that Super Bowls are won in the press conference.

Without a good rousing PC, we have nothing. And Romo's "aw shucks" attitude is costing us victories as well, and so is Bennet's body language and him not tucking his shirt in.

And the stadium beer really isn't cold enough and the Valley Ranch toilet paper is scratchy AND it's single-ply -and the Cowboys need that little circle on their pants with their number in it again -and Jason needs a better haircut -and, well I guess that's about it...

The only problem I have with firing him after the Rams loss is who would take his place?

Im just not a big fan of firing coaches during the season.

Yea, and you can keep pretending that all this supposed lack of discipline stuff is all the stuff of DREAMS. By the way, where are we ranked in penalties? Did I hear you say #32? Yea, you are right. Wade runs a real tight ship.

Exactly. People really put that much stock in press conferences?

Hire Denny Green!

Gotcha.

However, I think Wade Phillips' fate should be determined by how the team finishes the season.

If we have a strong showing in the Playoffs, I think he earns the right to keep his job.

If this team gets into the Playoffs, I really like our chances against the NFC Teams. The only teams I think we would probably lose too are New York and the Panthers, but we are capable of beating them.

You've had an incredibly hard time of getting the point lately.

I mean like... a REALLY hard time.

Please tell me, that you don't think that Wade Phillips is a good head coach. If you really believe that, then I'm surprised.

Mort said last night that Jerry was emphatic in the fact that Wade was not going to be fired, regardless of the outcome of this season.

End of story.

Also see: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141407

So if the Cowboys get blown out or don't even show up against the Eagles, Jerry Jones won't change his mind?

I doubt that.

Wade Phillips is coaching for his job, Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones probably both know that.

Besides, how can you not win 1 Playoff Game in 2 Seasons with this type of talent and not be held accountable.

But then again, Terence Newman stated on ESPN First Take a few weeks ago that he felt there was no accountability in the Coaching Staff, so maybe Wade Phillips is retained even if we don't make the Playoffs or don't win a Playoff Game.

I think he's okay to pretty good. He's had a winning record over many years now, so he's not as horribly incompetent as people like to claim.

But the real point was that PCs are absolutely no indicator of what kind of a football coach a person is. Please tell me you don't think that it is?

Did you hear Phillips say it wasn't his job to have "them up", or "ready to play" or whatever it was exactly that he said. Pray tell, WHAT IS HIS JOB?

Lets see.

*Its not his job to stop the penalty fest, apparently, since we are still doing it at a league leading pace.

*It's not his job to get his team fired up and apparently not his job to correct them either since the owner comes into the locker room to handle that small piece of business.

*It's not his job to know who is injured and who is playing or not or if they SHOULD be playing or not since his owner on more than one occasion has contradicted him on those subjects.

So what is his job? Face it. The guy is a defensive coordinator pretending to be a head coach. This is a two headed monster with Garrett being the other head, and Jerry the unifying factor.

Don't forget Romo wearing his hat backwards

I think the PC's tell you about a person's PERSONALITY. And Wade Phillips had his adrenal gland fail. The guy has ZERO anything but an awe shucks sense of humor. How does THAT GUY get a team to reach its potential? I just don't see it.
