The DE's did nothing tonight. That is definitely concerning. I know, we didn't have McClain, Crawford and Lawrence, but Irving, McAdoo, Russell and anyone else pretty much whiffed from the outside. Irving got some pressure from the inside when he went in there.

Anything on Tapper?

I wouldn't go down that road quite yet... Tapper didn't play and he's flashed in camp. Mayowa could offer a boost when he starts playing.
Ok you convinced me. I'm back on board. Might as well see those two and what they bring. Fair enough

I don't think the DE position will be even close to "OK" until after Lawrence' suspension is over with.

But I do expect more once Mayowa and Tapper are allowed to play.

The Lawrence suspension is a killer. The DL outlook would be soooo much different you could lock him in at RDE, pencil in Irving at LDE and then let the other 3-4 guys compete for backup snaps. That group on paper is at least solid with the DT rotation.

I actually think the 4 game suspension will help this defensive line. Our coaches are some of the worst talent evaluators and having to play a guy like Tapper or Irving gives them a chance to stand out.

Don't forget Mayowa. He should be thrust into the fire as soon as he's cleared for contact. The Cowboys need to find out ASAP if he can be a starter.

Mayowa was supposed to be ready late July. What is the problem?

We (the dallas cowboys) prefer to go into the season 100% healthy even if it costs us the chance to see if a guy can play or not.

Thornton is recovering from being sick. He has lost some weight and is trying to recondition himself.

I believe it's likely that he will improve, given time to regain lost weight and fully acclimate to our "D."

Having said as much, I think he gave a pretty darn good account of himself -- all things considered.
