Fish: Cowboys do plan to spend on tier 2 free agents

Fish throws out yang talk but I agree here. Think this is part of what Stephen meant with the "selectively aggressive" statement. They have or will ID certain tier 2 free agents and work hard to get them signed.......not the usual lowball and walk away.
I can see signing or trying to sign to fill opening starting positions. ( RG, RB, WR #2, DT )

My choices
RG.......Hernandez
RB.......Chubb
WR#2...Deebo, Cooper, Diggs
DT........Kinlaw or Devone Godchaux

It depends on how they define tier 2. But this team has so many needs, especially after losing their own free agents, tier 2 will be helpful.

I don't think they need a OG. They have multiple young guys that can play pretty well.

Who??? Bass and Hoffman? Do you think they are ready to start and play at a high-level 17 games? Shotty just mentioned why he would be hesitant to move Beebe from center coz he played last at a high level.

Agree with all with the exception of RB. I would prefer our RBs be drafted and also resign Rico.

Kendricks only got $3 million which is maybe 1.5 more than vet minimum. So no, he was not a tier 2 guy.
That’s not what I mean. I’m saying Kendrick’s himself was a tier 2 talent. At least I think he was. He played like one last season.

But my point is they always bargain shop in ti and tier 3. But I guess it depends what you consider tier1. I think the objective is to get cheaper tier 2 talent.

I think you could make an argument that in a perfect world, you bring in a quality vet OG but the way we are built and given our two idiots in charge, I'd rather do as you said - turn over to young guys and spend the money you would need for Hernandez on a better option at DT or WR or DE.

The tier is about pricing not whether they turned out well after the fact.

Oh ...I wanna draft one also ( hopefully with a top 2 pick ) and pair him with a vet. I was thinking of Chubb coz he may be cheaper than Rico, Not to mention, Rico is probably hoping to start....

They don't care who or what position they just need to do something lol

So broken down tier 1's

Hoffman, Bass, and Richards have all shown they could play. I think Hoffman is better in short reliefs rather than as a full time starter but he showed to be pretty competent. They also drafted Nathan Thomas who's college LT history suggest that he could be perfect as an OG. So they don't have a "need" there. It doesn't mean that you can't upgrade but you don't go out of your way spending for a position that isn't a strong need.

/It was unfortunately Martin who was handicapping the OL last year. Just didn't have it anymore.
