I hope we don't take an all or nothing approach. There are times that bringing in a strategically placed free agent is a very strong proposition, and winning teams are known to do that.

Revis was instrumental in the Pats SB victory this year.

And sometimes, you just say hell with it, because the opportunity you thought would never come along, just came along. This could be a Charles Haley type move, putting us over the edge.

Honestly- I believe elite DE is one of the positions every team should throw money at. I get what the team is doing and I support it. Better to be fiscally responsible and miss on some than get into a bad situation for the whole team, but...
And it's a big but. QB, DE and LT I believe are where can go a bit bonkers because they are so hard to find and when you get the opportunity to get one (when you don't have one)- you DO IT.

New England, perfect case in point.

They signed Revis and won a Super Bowl. This year, they let him walk.

Exactly,,, there are certain positions on the field that command high salaries if you want to acquire or retain their services. I don't have any problem with Dallas paying big bucks for a premium position of need like pass rushing DE.

That's old news, Hardy's legal team turned over the trial evidence:

Greg Hardy meets with NFL officials in New York

Greg Hardy met with league officials Wednesday to make his case to come off the Commissioner's Exempt List and immediately be reinstated, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source with knowledge of the proceedings.

The defensive end left the meeting in New York with no immediate resolution, according to Rapoport, who added that Hardy turned over documents from his legal case.

Yeah that wasn't the point but thanks for the current info.

So Hardy is waiting to get reinstated, that explains why nobody has signed him yet. He's also waiting for the NFL to review the "Evidence" that he just turned over on the 4rth...

-The Plot Thickens

Not really. More like the AFC is so weak that the Pats have a free trip to at worst the AFCCG every year. From there all they have to do is be good and lucky enough to get to and maybe win the Super Bowl. Revis or no Revis the Pats still at least get to the Super Bowl.

Yep. just like Hardy would be here. but im not holding my breath that Jerry and his son, will spend the money to get him him.they are to busy bringing in scrubs, and being to by the local DFW media how great they are.

I don't think Hardy is a menace, maybe just someone who makes poor choices in friends/woman. By all accounts he seems to be a pretty good teammate/person.

If you get a chance to sign him to an incentive laden deal you do it and cross off one big gaping hole off the offseason checklist. Guys like him are rare to find in the NFL.

I like reading you. Makes me smile...

We have never been big players in FA, but we have never ruled it out. We are always being tied to so and so to drive up prices, but at least we have had discussions. This year we aren't even in the room.

Sheard, Clayborn, Ayers, Reed, Fairly, Knighton, Melton all signed short and cheap deals. All of them would have helped this team.

If we don't get Hardy we are really stuck this year. The Draft can only help so much and at #27 a lot of edge rushers will be gone.

How much would Hardy command?

64 million dollar question right now. Not even real NFL GM's have that figured out yet.
Don't be surprised at any number when he does sign with whoever.
It could be crazy low with tons of incentives, it could be astronomical. I am extremely interested in seeing how this plays out.
