That's all kinds of messed up. Rape is the greater crime, especially when there was no woman beaten, never mind near to death.

Yes, I think I was so stunned he said that, that I didn't know how to respond appropriately. Neither is acceptable in any scenario, however the Hardy case is filled with enough doubt and inconsistencies that it's hard to figure where the lies stop and the truth begins.

there was little physical evidence in the Hardy case which made it a lot harder to figure out what happened. Most of the case was he said she said

I guess you think what ray rice did was ok. They say hardy case is 5 times worse.

Nope. They said the Dez video was allegedly 5 times worse than the Ray Rice video. You are mixing up the Dez fairy tale with the Hardy fairy tale.

Nope. I know they said that too. But in the fall they said the same about hardy.

Let me ask a question. If Hardy did nothing then why was he found guilty and why did he have to pay off the woman?

Hardy was found guilty in a Judge-only trial. So, one person making a judgement call. Not saying he didn't do anything wrong, but can't say without a doubt either way. He said, she said.

I'm done with this bs. Same people defending hardy just because they think he will be a cowboy. If he signed with the Commanders you samep people would be agreeing and would want him suspended.

I'm done with people like you. I check out for good. I'm not sitting here raking this abuse.

I can promise you most rape victims would take a knock out from a grown man over being raped. No one is saying beating a woman is ok, I think most people think it is odd someone is saying a man hitting a woman is worse than rape.

doubt anything happens tonight. Sounds like today was background check day and maybe trying to get a meeting set up. Tomorrow lets hope he flys in. If he does and JJ wants him , he won't leave valley ranch without signing.

Moore: How Greg Hardy fits into the Cowboys' free agency plan

Now that the shock of DeMarco Murray’s departure has subsided, now that jilted Cowboys fans have had a chance to boo him publicly at an Ultimate Fighting Championship event, it’s time to move past emotion to more practical matters.

What happens to the free-agent dollars the club set aside to retain Murray? You don’t lose the NFL’s leading rusher without trying to balance the scales by acquiring someone with name recognition for your fans.

Let’s explore how — or if — defensive end Greg Hardy fits into the plans.

Darren McFadden isn’t the answer. You can’t sell him as a replacement, considering that he’s rushed for fewer yards (1,620) the last three seasons than Murray had in 2014 alone.

The Cowboys won’t try. Murray’s successor comes in the draft, not free agency.

But that moment is more than six weeks away. The only way to appease an anxious fan base in the interim is to make a substantive move in free agency. The money the Cowboys didn’t shower on Murray should be devoted to upgrade the defensive side of the ball.

Apologies to linebackers Andrew Gachkar and Jasper Brinkley along with cornerback Corey White, who was claimed off waivers from New Orleans, but this anonymous haul won’t calm the restless throng. It will take a blue-chip or high-profile defensive player.

Only four remain: Hardy, tackle B.J. Raji, linebacker Brandon Spikes and linebacker Rolando McClain.

Yes, the same McClain who resurrected his career with the Cowboys. The club wants the middle linebacker back, and his return is even more critical now that Justin Durant and Bruce Carter have been lost in free agency. But retaining a starter is different from adding one.

That takes us back to Hardy.

Sources acknowledge that the Cowboys are one of six teams that have expressed an interest in the troubled defender whose career in Carolina has come to an end. But sources also say the Cowboys’ stance is no different than it was the day free agency began.

Club officials have a limited interest in Hardy. The Cowboys will monitor the market to see if it makes financial sense to pursue the talented defensive end.

Is this surprising? No. Defensive end is a position of need for the Cowboys. Hardy is easily the best free agent available. If his market value dropped well below his skill level, the Cowboys would be irresponsible not to consider signing him.

And that touches on why a player at talented as Hardy is available heading into the second week of free agency.

Hardy was placed on Commissioner Roger Goodell’s exempt list after Week 1 of last season as he awaited trial for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Charges were dismissed last month when the accuser failed to show up in court. A probable suspension of up to six games still hangs over his head entering next season.

That’s the baggage that comes with Hardy.

Here’s the talent. Hardy had 34 sacks in his career with the Panthers and made the Pro Bowl two years ago. He collected 26 sacks in his final two full seasons with the club, with a career high of 15 sacks in ’13.

That’s more than Jeremy Mincey, Henry Melton and Tyrone Crawford totaled for the Cowboys last season.

Melton is one of the players the Cowboys have allowed to leave in free agency. The contract he signed one year ago provides a template the club can repeat.

Hardy faces an uncertain future because of his behavior off the field. Melton’s uncertainty came from a return from ACL surgery.

The Cowboys’ answer was to sign Melton to a four-year, $27.5 million contract with a catch. The final three years of that deal, including a $9 million guarantee, would be activated only if he were on the roster to start the ’15 calendar year.

There’s more. The Cowboys included bonuses based on the number of sacks Melton accrued. He received a bonus of $72,125 for every game he was on the active roster. That sort of bonus would offset the unknown number of games Hardy would be eligible to play in ’15.

The bottom line: The Cowboys paid Melton a base salary of $1.25 million and a signing bonus of $1 million. He made in the neighborhood of $3.1 million for the club and was cut before his big money hit.

The Cowboys can structure the same sort of deal with Hardy unless he seeks greater financial security. Again, this is not to say the club will pursue Hardy. It’s only to point out it can.

Consumers of NFL news should be wary whenever they hear a team has interest in a player at this point of free agency. That interest can be manufactured by the agent to spark an otherwise dormant market. It can be manufactured by the club to create leverage in signing another free-agent target.

If you buy into the possibility of Greg Hardy signing here, proceed carefully.

You can be sure the Cowboys are.

Ok let me talk to you like your 5. Both are bad. Don't do either. But beating a woman is alot worse. I'm not saying either are acceptedable. Just have to pick the worse of both evils. I don't condone either. Do you? Do you think rape is worse than beating? The guy o responded to made rape seem worse.

I'm on your side with the Hardy thing, especially your POV that it's laughable to suggest he was at one point found guilty, when "no evidence" exists......but rape is worse.

I'm not going to judge the guy.

You are innocent until proven guilty in this country and he hasn't been convicted or punished in a court of law for anything. The female was bought off and didn't seem to think that what had happened was bad enough to go after Hardy. I can make just a big of an argument that all she wanted was money and she got it.

If the Cowboys are concerned about his character, then protect yourself with certain language and stipulations in the contract you offer. Other than that, Hardy is a very talented football player that fits us perfectly on the field.

Get the money right and get him Jerry.
