Neither could Romo. No QB will get past the divisional round with all the penalties, coaching mistakes and a defense that can’t stop anyone. The ones who are smoking would rather have Cooper Rush or Trey Lance at QB next season.

No schedule is easy in the NFL. We had one of the tougher schedules this season. Dak doesn’t always crap the bed in the playoffs. He played well against Rodgers in 2016 but our defense choked. He out played Goff in 2018 but our defense choked. He played well against Russell Wilson and he was outstanding against Tom Brady in 2022. He’s played poorly in 3 of his 7 playoff games.

No, my plan would’ve never included going over 30 years without drafting a QB in the first. It would’ve also never included giving Dak all the leverage.

We’ve had 2 playoff wins with Dak. Despite the Bucs record they beat us in opener in 2022 and they had Tom Brady who was 7-0 against the Cowboys. Not easy winning on the road in the playoffs. That was our first road playoff win in 27 years and Dak played outstanding.

But........see here we go again putting in on Dak. and why people defend him by calling out our defense.

We started on Defense and got KO'd in the first round. Defense for up. Never responded the entire game. People can claim Dak for garbage time, whatever. Our defense got no time. There was not one single area of our D that played well. Zero.

I am not taking anything away from Dak's poor start to the game, but this was 100% a team lose.

We drafted Quincy Carter in 2001 with our first pick which was a second rounder. You seem to think the only way to find a great QB is in the first round. With your plan we would be burning first round picks every few years trying to find a QB. We would be by passing great talent at other positions wasting picks on QBs that may not get us any farther in the playoffs.

I recognize he’s a very good QB that hasn’t had a good enough team around him by the time the playoffs arrive. Very few QBs are good enough to carry their teams in the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers has struggled with it and so has Lamar Jackson. Josh Allen has also struggled with it.

That 43-year-old QB still put up big numbers in 2022. However, that his team wasn’t nearly as good as it was when he arrived in Tampa. Several players, including Gronk were gone.

Because it was the same problem when Romo was here. It’s not the QB it’s the team! Our defense was a big problem during Romo’s entire career. The defense is still a big problem. Coaching and penalties have been an issue for 2+ decades.

Dak has very significant deficiencies in reading defences which better teams exploit. If we pay him 55+ million we cannot build a team around him to win a SB.

He would be throwing a lot more picks than he does and wouldn’t have as high a completion percentage or passer rating if that was true. Without Dak no matter what we add that might improve the team wouldn’t get us very far if we don’t come up with a real good QB. Good luck winning with a reasonably priced QB who’s better suited as a backup than a starter.
