Fish: What if it's Gibbs, not Bijan Robinson?

Gibbs was faster than all of the top WRs at the combine in the 40.
True, if Mayer is off the board, I can see why Gibbs would be the pick.
I've warmed up to Mayer. He's a great blocker and receiver and I think Lunda Wells is an excellent TE coach and would get the most out of him. Almost everyone I read including NFL.com calls him a safe pick and picking at 26 that can't be overstated. The last player we took in round one that was called the safest pick was Zack Martin.

I think if the choice is either, Booger goes for Robinson because he brings automatic promotional/marketing opportunities with him.

Can you imagine the elation of the UT alumni, if he were to draft Robinson? And it was not lost on him the impact the Oilers made taking the Tyler Rose, they became Texas' Team.

1. Bijan RB
2. Mayer TE
3. Wright OL
4. WR
5. Drew Sanders LB

From what I understand what's being reported from media and ex players that are around the team on their shows podcasts and the fan. This is most likely the targets for 26. Sanders sounds like the Zack Martin pick. If everybody is gone that's the pick.

The real question is if Mayer and Wright are both there who do you pick. I have to go wright.

Gibbs is awesome and he would be terrifying for defenses to try and deal with.

He could be a legit WR for us too I think just like Pollard.

We can find a grunt RB at anytime. This guy would replace Pollard after the season.

But…

People are sleeping on Achane and he can be had later.

If you’re blocking is good then Achane is going to get whatever is blocked and more and he’s just as explosive as Gibbs.

exactly. wouldn't be able to carry the load and if he is forced to, his career will be short. he is part of a platoon RB approach and you don't draft a platoon player in the first round
Lol @ carry the load.

Nobody cares about that anymore.

Christian McCaffrey can’t carry the load anymore and he was just traded for a kings ransom.

Jamyr Gibbs is a guy that can score from anywhere on the field with just a simple dump off.

When Dak Prescott is your QB then a guy like this who you can get the ball to easy is invaluable.

This would be just like taking Felix Jones in the first round.

You do not take a Backup or Part time RB in the first round.

He would be a steal in the second round ........ but your first rounder should always be at least a 5 year starter.

Thing is Dallas has a Gibbs his name is Pollard. They're essentially the same back. If Dallas hadn't signed Pollard I'd want him. But they did so no. If he's there at 58, there's a conversation to be had. But he won't be.

Defensive coordinators will rest easy at night if we draft a ho hum athlete in Mayer with our first pick.

We should be drafting difference makers in round 1.

Not TEs that are bad value.

Gibbs to Dallas is picking up steam. He is a really good offensive weapon. He can play RB or in the slot, and has great hands.

He may be a better offensive weapon that any of the WRs available at pick 26.

He won’t be available too much lower than where we’re at and you need a partner

I get sone awesome mocks with trade down unfortunately it’s much harder in the real draft
It’s tough to see now but if some of these quarterbacks fall teams alway want to trade to the back of the first round to get one. Just like Broncos getting Lynch and Ravens getting Lamar. Not a bad spot to be.

I get this point but the entire league isn’t really doing the Bell cow back thing anymore.

Carrying the load is 15 touches now days.

Plus this guy can play WR I believe.

Felix Jones was great until they tried to bulk him up and Jason Garrett ruined him.

I’ll never forget the Bengals game his rookie year I believe it was when he just wouldn’t let him on the field.

Exactly, so, to me, he's the smart choice at 26, especially as he's also a good blocker. So, he serves as an extra olineman in the run game.

Having two Pollards isn’t a bad thing. Actually if I’m a OC I’m excited about the possibilities “.
