Just like in 2011 when Austin was banged up and Bryant wasn't Bryant, a WR will emerge. I'm not worried.

I'm only worried about the RB position on offense.

Problem with this is we onky have Street currently. He's slow.

Not a doctor all I can say Dez will be back when he is ready if that is 4-6 or 6 to 8. Meantime the season does not stand still for any team. As Coach Garrett says Next man up

Hey, we were the ones who chose to draft him. Now it's time to see if our scouts are as good as we think.

And I don't care about slow, the speed comes from T-Will. I want a good route runner and someone with a big frame to go up and grab deep balls.

What? We're comparing an injury to a player that wasn't even close to Dez's talent. But elite talent? No. I never looked at Nicks as having a "promising career".

A comparable player would be Julio Jones, an elite WR coming back from a similar injury.

Your wording was awkward. Were you saying Nicks was only a good receiver until his injury?

everyone heals at a different rate which is why these estimates are worthless

the thing is dez is out for at least 6 or 8 weeks so they have to find ways to win games the whole team does if they don't there wont be any playoffs the team has to figure out ways to win games and other players have to step up to keep the season going

Hoping for the best but every article says it's a jones fracture. And speaking to someone in the medical field this morning they laughed when I said "4 weeks." They also said "his full range of motion will be gone. "

Qualifications of medical field? Doctor or Urinalyssi lab clean up tech? LOL...j/k....
I always find it funny someone from the medical field knows how bad the injuries are, when they are not involved.
It's like if a Doctor tells his patient after many tests, that his heart is ok, but cut out the bad foods....then a friend asks a friends opinion from a medical staff, about a chest pain, and they say he / she needs open heart surgery to fix any oncoming issues.

I am not doubting you, or this person, but sorry, they don't know, we don't know, fisher doesn't know. All we can go by is what the team tells us. I choose to take their word 4 to 6 weeks.

Is the hyperbaric chamber that T.O. used to supposedly get healthy still utilized or not? Don't know if it would help Dez or Gregory...kinda doubt it.

Good question. Was wondering what TO injury was and how long it took him to comeback

Do yourself a favor and <don't> go back to other injury recovery estimates the Cowboy coaching staff have provided over the past 3-5 years.

In particular avoid reading about what the Cowboys were saying when Romo broke his shoulder blade.

I'm not saying it will be longer... all I am saying is the Cowboys are under no obligation to tell anybody the truth on how long they actually think it will take.

After seeing his reaction in the hallway towards his teammates I have no doubt Dez will do whatever it takes to get back at full strength as soon as possible. Just think of Rolando Mac but the opposite in regards to returning from injury and playing through pain

This was my reaction. He didn't look to be in to much distress then, hopefully it's closer to 4 weeks.

Agree. Fisher is probably trolling for subscribers to his site to " keep updated".

So 4 to 12 weeks is where we're at now? lol I'm not buying anything an "ESPN doctor" says. What even is an"ESPN doctor"? Do they operate on ESPN employees after they stub their toe in the studio? The one people I'd listen to are Jerry & Garrett, the doctor that actually performed the surgery, and Dez himself. And that tweet from Dez saying "don't listen to all the craziness" is very encouraging. I'd be shocked if he wasn't back after the bye week.

Yeah you can do that but I know better than to take anything this team says over the past 4 years when it comes to injuries.

I wonder if they're saying 4-6 weeks to keep Dez from getting discouraged and losing focus. If Dez is thinking only 4 weeks, he's more likely to keep his head right. If he's thinking 8 weeks, he might be more likely to go cra cra.

The opinion of someone "in the medical field" is about as valid as a fan's opinion about his football team, for the most part. The difference between Joe Schmuck's quality of treatment for an injury and a world class athlete's quality of treatment for the same injury is night and day in most cases, both in terms of the treatment itself and the ability of the injured to recover. Having said all of that, the team will do what is in the team's and Dez's best interest in regards to his return. They will not rush him back, even one day too soon.

Every player is different. Some heal faster than others. It's just wait and see for right now. He could be out anywhere from a month to two or three months. We just don't know. What we do know is we're gonna have to find a way to win without Dez.

I've had this before and range of motion wasn't a big issue. I'd be more worried about the running, cutting, and jumping. The point of the article is a good one - these injuries often don't heal the way you want them to. Given Dez's age and desire to prolong his career, it is a real possibility that he will shut it down this year unless things go as planned.

At this point, there are a wide range of outcomes. Hopefully this is a six week injury and he comes back as good as ever. If not, I think as long as Romo continues to QB at such an elite level, Dallas will compete and position themselves with a likely stretch run with Dez late in the season.

I posted this last night in the Dez injury thread because I just couldn't understand how we could have such a low end time frame when no one else in recent memory has had a similar injury and bounced back that quick. I know every case is different but this is very worrisome
