Thats how dumb this franchise is. They luck into players more often than they intentionally pick them.

It is possible Jerry does not care about how he is viewed as a father compared to how he is viewed as a GM. Then again, if people did criticize him as a father maybe he would react to his wife the way he reacted to McClay.

Will McClay is not in any way the GM here. He is more of a secretary than he is a GM.

I suspects all draft picks are decided by Jerry & Giggles, so McClay can only recommend. But yeah, those were terrible picks!

I've been trying to tell everyone this for a very long time.

Those who don't like any pick that was made needs to direct their displeasure at Jerry.

He doesn't make the pick. But when you have a GM with no expertise or familiarity with the players to make his own decision, that's where Will McLays opinion carries a ton of influence in the war room. If Will did not advocate for Mazi Smith, we would not have picked him.

Jimmy traded up for Emmitt. I know Jimmy really wanted LB James Francis but he was long gone. We had the 21st pick and moved up to 17 to get Emmitt. The only luck involved was Emmitt still being available and Francis being long gone.

Personally,,,,I think McClay is over-rated. And the latest drafts are proof. The more they let this guy set up the draft board....the worse our drafts are becoming. He's constantly reaching for need....Instead of selecting the best player.
