From what I gather...
I think they have agreed on a dollar amount but Dak wants to renegotiate in 3 or 4 years and Dallas is trying to get a long term deal done so his contract is cheap down the road.
They couldn't get it done when Dak was only making 2mil. Is he supposed to get in a bigger hurry when he's making 30mil+ guaranteed on a tag?
A new HC probably makes management less in a hurry too, wanting the HC to have a chance to fully evaluate Dak for a year before he buys in.
If they could agree on a dollar amount this would have been done a year ago.
Btw, what are teams going to do whenever Mahomes gets his pay day? Pay their guy more then Mahomes? Lol
I think it’s years from everything I’ve read.
I think the Cowboys want a long term deal for 34 or 35 mill.
What works in there favor is that Daks agent want to cash in again in a few years so he wants a short term deal. What the Cowboys should be holding out for is a ripcord that's going to get them out of this godawful contract in a couple years.
First off no one was insulting you so get out of your feelings. I was educating you because you don't seem to understand how this works. And you claim you didn't understand my post because of punctuation? That's fair. But you should also understand I didn't say don't use free agency at all. I said don't use it to build a defense. Now is there any other confusion?I'd respond but I cant differentiate what you're asking vs. what you're trying to tell me.
Maybe a punctuation lesson before insulting others?
Take a look around at the better teams in the league and tell me how they havent at ALL used free agency as a way to build.
Draft only doesnt work unless you do it perfectly, and no team does, regardless of what Stephen Jones has you believing.
Anyone who get their opinions about the Cowboys from the national media talking heads is the real joke.
Yes, my mistake as well.I gave you too much credit. I thought you could have a conversation like an adult.
You, not we.Stop ruining Cowboys Zoners offseason. We were hoping Dak would be traded for picks. Then we would sign Brady for 20 million. Then draft Eason or Frohm as Brady’s backup. Dak sucks!!!!!
Mahomes, Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Eric Fischer, Duvernay-Tardiff disagree w/ you!!!!I'd respond but I cant differentiate what you're asking vs. what you're trying to tell me.

Works both ways. Many fans also undervalue their own players due to microanalyzing.Because teams and clearly our own fans don’t learn.
We’re on a Cowboy forum so it’s typical for people to be delusional about how good their guy is too so it’s an easy sell for the team to want to pay a slightly above mediocre QB enough money to end our Super Bowl chances for awhile.
Not arguing otherwise. Pretty sure my point was that using a large percentage of the cap toward status quo doesn't allow us to get any better.Mahomes, Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Eric Fischer, Duvernay-Tardiff disagree w/ you!!!!
The only reason KC was able to add so many players was because Mahomes was still on his rook contract. That's what we should've done.
You must form a core through the draft, and then fill in the spaces w/ FA's.
For the most part....they had a window....and it closed. They have to pay guys that didnt win...or start over. Not arguing otherwise. Pretty sure my point was that using a large percentage of the cap toward status quo doesn't allow us to get any better.
Convenient to leave out their FA additions to support your point. You need both to succeed.
Is Dallas not a "win now" team? Or is it one that is still "building" yet has no cap space?
Ok thanks for that. So let's completely ignore free agency entirely.First off no one was insulting you so get out of your feelings. You build teams based on hunger, youth and cheap contracts. You don't do that with free agency. Lesson done.
For the most part....they had a window....and it closed. They have to pay guys that didnt win...or start over.
So....pay the group that wasnt good enough to win with...and theres no cap room to add what's needed.
Jake from State Farm has spoken!I don't care if he's asking for $40 million or "only" $36-38 million. That's a lot of money for a QB that hasn't done anything more than win a division title.
Yes, it takes a supporting cast - QBs don't win championships on their own - but a huge QB contract only makes that a harder task. I'm skeptical.
You really need to reread my post. Your snarkiness makes you look silly after you reread the last line of my post. Not arguing otherwise. Pretty sure my point was that using a large percentage of the cap toward status quo doesn't allow us to get any better.
