I never understood these premature deals.......he was restricted so why not tender him with a first round pick, then at the end of the year or next year sign him to a 4 year deal?

They clearly think his arrow is up.

One of those premature deals would have worked pretty nicely with Murray about this time last year. Then again, maybe he doesn't leave it all out there playing with full pockets.

If he makes it through the next 2 years in one piece it's a fair deal.

He still would have 2m in dead money after 2016 which is a lot for a slot WR, but what can you do.

I think it's his high rate of completions and third down conversions along with his elusiveness and ability to create separation that makes him valuable. It's not just stats. I don't know how many balls he'll catch this year although I think I remember it said they wanted him more involved. I can see 50 this year but I wouldn't lay money on it.

You're not going to get a starter for less than they paid. Just like slot CBs, slot receivers are considered starters these days.

I do like Cole's X Factor in the offense most definitely and agree he is a valued asset to the team looking forward. I guess it was more the fact that an Eldelmen WR type of importance warranted them same contract (Beasley's being a little smaller). I know Gronk would probably be considered the office #1 threat there but Eldelmen is what makes that offense move (outside of Brady of course).

I agree too in that I could see Witten's receptions being transferred over to Beasley much more this season forward and would make this contract look cheaper (it already isn't bad tbh). You are also correct in that though he only had 39 catches, most were big 3rd down conversions or spark plays for the team.

No, you think he wasn't getting enough looks. That is different than knowing.

What about the type of looks?;):D Mid crossing routes vs comeback/out routes with little to no RAC opportunity But you are correct he was targeted a lot but the scheme could have been opened up to vary the "looks/opps = increase in the deep ball-deep crossing patterns, slants etc. This relates to the team not allowing Dez to take over games when it is obv. possible/needed;(WAS/GB come to mind). Vary it up is all. Yes they were efficient statistically but not very creative/aggressive either.

You ever notice the majority of Dez's deep completions are only possible as a result of the acrobatic catches he is capable of completing. No clean deep attempts to run under, or scheme to free him up deep, etc. It seems they are generally 1 on 1 battles only as a result of him having to stop for the ball.

Beasley earned this payday. He played very big for the Cowboys late in the season and I expect a lot more out of him in coming years

Even cooler to his credit is that he has avoided injury and has that knack for avoid big hits (for the most part). Will do him well for his career considering his size, that was a big concern initially.

I agree, he took some big hit last year and bounced right back up. he has shown he is tough enough to play this game. I think late in the season Romo really developed a comfort level with Beasley and it paid off on some big plays that moved the chains as well as putting points on the board. Really glad to have him in Dallas and look for more from him.

Don't know how anyone can say we overpaid. You don't give a guy a contract based on what he's done, but based on what you think he will do. This year Beasley showed the ability to get open. I know there were a couple times that were instant replayed where Beasley had completely broken coverage but Romo went elsewhere.

You'd have to be blind to not see that in the film room, but Beasley was still green. I think Romo's going to trust him a lot more and 4/13 will be a great deal for us. I think he's going to be a weapon.

ALL CAPS DONT MAKE FACTS!

If Williams sees less snaps and the Beezer steps up it could be a great deal. Witten and Cole on third down are a genuine threat and we know they are not going to run it...for some reason..

We said the same thing when Scandrick was signed early- he is a CB who would easily get paid 8 million a year.

We said the samme thing when we signed Dan Bailey early (who has been great- I am not sure what happened to him at the end of the year).

I think now it seems like it may be a little high, but if we wait till next year his salary would only increase.

I think it is always a good idea to lock up your young producers.

I don't see this deal as overpaying. I thought the spin around here was pay is not based on past numbers but future projections. I think the way Beasley came on towards the end of the season and how he and Romo started to click that the Cowboys see enough in Beasley to reward him with a 4 year deal
