Fisher: team made respectable offer to Schultz

Brandon Carr also. Very nice #2 type player. Why did we pay him as a #1 CB? I really don't get it. A simple evaluation of his skillset screams #2 CB.

In this case, my guess is that we fell in love w/ his high INT numbers and never evaluated/analyzed anything else about him.

The lesson to be learned is to quit frickin' overpaying players.
Preach it, K!

Same goes for Dak. Very good QB, but not worth $40+ mil/year. Hardly any QB is worth paying that much.

10 QBs are making 40M or more.

So that is market value and it is only going up.

You can dislike it but it won't change the facts.

You can get lucky in the draft but it only buys you 4 years.

Schultz was a high performer in an offense married to his skills that he spent years developing in.
Not mad at him if he can get 12-13AAV on the market with much of it GTD but Dallas didn't need to make that commitment.
I hope he gets paid massively and welcome my comp pick.

I disagree w/ this entire "market value" idea that's being thrown around as fact.

What people are missing is that the term "market value" includes a product that is of the same value. QBs are not of the same value individually. Teams are beginning to learn this.

Hence why I wish the owners would put their foot down. Them ever ridiculously yearly increasing QB contracts are destroying teams and the quality of the game on the field.

Although we don't know for sure, I like Fergie's game and I think he'll be more than adequate as a Schultz replacement. Good player wants great money, move on.

Yes and Hendershot is here as well. We have other needs. I'd be upset if we burned a bunch of money on Schultz. His effort at times and blocking really irritate me. Like the player overall, but happy to move on with Fergy who I think has more potential.

hes a playmaking safety and tackles in the box. The leader in the back 7. We need him. If we can get him reasonably we should.
need vs want is very different hes bonus guy not a need. i say Bell and MUk are close to ready..go young when moneys needed elsewhere, we HAVE TWO starting Ss right now.

Teams can try but ultimately owners realize they need those QBs more than those QBs need them.
There aren't 32 starting caliber QBs.
For every dollar a franchise QB makes he is making the owner 10X that.

I do think it'll hit an upper limit but then again Rodgers is at 55M a year and had/has like 5 teams chasing him even though he is widely known as a terrible person to be around and already old.
So that may quite ways off.

Philly is publicly admitting Hurts is worth 50M+ AAV.

Basically the exact inverse of the RB position.

You can find 32+ good enough RBs. QB's, maybe 3-5 difference makers, 5-8 good ones then it's average to below average.

Bell is totally unproven. But I do like Izzy.

We made a respectable offer to Shultz? Yeah...I bet Stephen Jones wrote it on a used Napkin....a 2 year 2 mill deal with a 1 mil guarantee year 1 and the rest incentive based year 2 lmao.

So we have Cowboy/Jerry haters saying Jerry is cheap and low balled. We also have Cowboy/Jerry haters saying Dalton saved Jerry from himself. Which side of the buffoons is the correct one.

You obviously don’t want to lose your talented players if you can afford them .. and we can.

I’m sure Schultz agent feels it’s a very weak TE market and he will get more than we offered. Some team with a ton of cap will throw a blank check his way. It’s smart for him to test the market

I think Jerry not offering him a contract he doesn't like is great. Jerry knows Dalton isn't worth it. Good player..sure...not worth a big contract. Smart move for both sides imo

yup. thats the rub there.
rarer the skillset the more expensive it is.
